 Duty Station: Eastern Sudan Area Coordination, Gedaref (main) and Kassala States, with extended travel in different localities of both States or in other States for short missions.

 Background:

Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) is an international Italian NGO established in 1965. Since its establishment, COOPI has been undertaking activities to help and empower the poor and needy in different countries. COOPI Sudan started its operation in 2004 and has been primarily implementing emergency, relief and early recovery programs in water hygiene and sanitation, food security and livelihood, nutrition and protection sectors.

COOPI is currently implementing several projects in East Sudan (Kassala and Gedaref States) supporting Refugees and Host communities mainly in the WASH sector.

 

Under the framework of on-going projects, COOPI is looking for qualified and competent Cashier / Cash-for-work expert



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities

  • In coordination with the finance department and with the field coordinator, management of the cash flows foreseen by the cash-for-work activities;
  • Keep track of the in- and out- flows of the amounts dedicated to cash-for-work activities through appropriate templates and modules, in line with COOPI’s procedures;
  • Development of selection criteria of the beneficiary profile to be involved in the cash-for-work activities;
  • Keep appropriate registers and lists of beneficiaries involved;
  • Coordinate with camp activities the
  • Produce ToRs and similar documents in coordination with the refugee camp authorities necessary for the authorization of the cash-for-work activities.
  • Produce, file and archive properly registers and modules with signed vouchers and receipts that prove the accomplishment of the payments;
  • Implementation of the direct payments and supervision of staff involved;
  • Ensure Project implementation plan are developed, followed up on, and completed in a timely fashion to keep activities on track;
  • Support and participate in technical assessments as directed by the Project Manager and Field Coordinator;
  • Engage and participate in sector coordination meetings and working groups to provide regular updates on progress of activities;
  • Ensure appropriate participation and contribution of key stakeholders (communities/local administration, partners UN and INGO agencies);
  • Document and report discrepancies, anomalies, and any issue not in line with regulations, guidelines and proper procedures;
  • Follow up on local contractual engagements, to ensure activities are carried out as per required standards  
  • Provide regular project updates and reports to line manager to ensure activities are on schedules as planned;
  • Organize field visits to monitor the activities progress;
  • In coordination with the MEAL Officer, develop and support a monitoring system to measure project indicators and goals.

  • Merge all the monthly activity plans and share them with the Project Manager and Field Coordinator;
  • Update and share with the Project Manager and Field Coordinator field mission requests and bi-weekly movements plans;

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualification and Experience

  • high School diploma or higher degree required; degree in finance or accounting preferred but not required;
  • Additional training courses specific to Program Management and Humanitarian Aid professional certifications preferred;
  • Minimum 1 years of relevant working experience in International NGOs/emergency contexts.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to broader team objectives;
  • Ability to multitask and manage time amid multiple deadlines
  • Strong computer literacy, organizational, planning, and report writing skills;
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English language;
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken Arabic language;
  • Knowledge of Tigray culture is an asset
