 Background:

The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) seeks a Field Coordinator to lead the implementation of a new NDI youth targeting program that aims to enhance political and governance accountability and inclusivity.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth familiarity with Sudan’s democratic transition,  youth and civil society roles in addition to advocacy and lobbying. The successful candidate will provide support to ensure the implementation of program and strengthening the capacities of youth on state level. Based in project site (Kassala, Elfasher) with possible travel to other states in Sudan.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager and the Resident Country Director, the Field coordinator will be responsible of the following:

  • Management of the program on State level including implementation of activities, conducting assessments, development and implementation of special policies and procedures and ensuring all program performance is up to standards.
  • Coordinate with all project stakeholders and partners at state level to ensure successful implementation of the project activities.
  • Work with officials on State and local governance levels to identify challenges and needs to assist and inform NDI’s project implementation.
  • Collaborate with NDI’s senior management team to ensure compliance with regulations in policy development/implementation.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the project communication plan and conduct all communication activities including documentation on state level.
  • Prepare written reports and multi-media presentations and deliver to appropriate audiences.
  • Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with youth organisations, civil society organisations and resistant committees on state level.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of  all capacity development activities related to the project as indicated in the project proposal.
  • Prepare and submit weekly updates reports to the Program Manager on political, security and electoral updates in the State.
  • Other duties as assigned by the program Manager and the Resident Country Director.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree (master’s or higher-level preferred) in a relevant field of study, such as, but not limited to political science, social science, history, conflict studies, international development, public policy, peacebuilding, peace and conflict resolution, project management.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of project management experience at national or international level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conducting need assessments and developing training modules/curriculum, training materials etc.
  • Demonstrated experiences and skills in facilitating stakeholder/working group consultations.
  •  Relevant regional and international experience will be an added advantage.
  •  Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills in English.
  • Strong experience in research and policy-level analysis and the design, formulation and coordinating of project activities.
  • Experience in civic education and youth engagement.
  • Must be available to travel to other States and community sites as needed in order to support program operations.
