 Background:

The Project Coordinator position is based within the framework of the project “Increasing the Dignity and Protection of Refugees and Migrants in Eastern Sudan” implemented by the SRCS and supported by the Danish Red Cross and the British Red Cross.

 

Job purpose:

The job purpose is to provide an overall managerial oversight of and responsibility over the project. He/she will ensure the quality, effective and efficient management of the project at all stages of the project cycle through staff management, budgeting, and project-related logistics and admin supports.

He/she will be based in Kassala with frequent travels to the project locations. He/she will work in a close collaboration with SRCS Branch Director, DRC Programme Delegate and BRC Technical Advisers. He/she directly and supportively supervises the project staff team composed of MHPSS/Protection Senior Technical Officer, Field Officers, Community Mobilizer, Logistics and Admin Officer. He/she is responsible that all the project activities are carried out through the established SRCS structures and are based on the Fundamental principles, values and policies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

 

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Key responsibilities

 

 Main tasks

Project Cycle Management

  • Lead on the project implementation through developing and following-up on workplans, expenditures, procurements, progress against indicators and capacity building needs
  • Ensure the project is implemented in a quality manner, targets are reached and the budget is utilized 
  • In coordination with PMER, ensure project’s monitoring and evaluation throughout and at the end of the project implementation (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Ensure close collaboration and coordination with the local partner of the project, including ensuring quality service delivery and financial and administrative compliances 
  • Draft monthly narrative reports and revise monthly financial reports; support drafting quarterly narrative and final reports to the donor
  • Regularly monitor protection situation, needs and gaps in the project target areas to inform the project implementation

Staff Management and Capacity Development

  • Effectively and supportively supervise project team(Field Officers, Logistics and Admin Officer, Community Mobilizer)
  • Ensure compliances with Code of Conduct, Child Protection, PSEA and anti-corruption policies
  • Draft/update Job Descriptions for project staff. Manage the recruitment processes for positions in the team, including drafting technical tests, interview questions and following-up on screening, short listing, interviews, offers with HR and staff appraisals.
  • In coordination with MHPSS/Protection Senior Technical Officer, ensure capacity of the project staff and volunteers to deliver quality and timely MHPSS/Protection services and activities through the formal trainings and on-the-job coaching
  • Supportively supervise, coach and mentor project team on handling administrative responsibilities and respecting SRCS processes and procedures

Representation and liaison

  • Represent project activities at different coordination fora to enhance visibility of the project and establish/enhance collaboration among relevant stakeholders at the state level
  • Conduct advocacy and Humanitarian Diplomacy activities with relevant authorities and partners promoting the SRCS and the RCRC principles and advocating for the needs of the most vulnerable and at-risk

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Personal Qualifications

Education

BA/Master’sdegree in Management, Social Sciences, Law, Community Development, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology or other related fields

 

Experience and Knowledge

 

  • At least3 years’ experience in a managerial position in a humanitarian organization or NGO
  • Strongmanagerial, organizational and planningskills
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills for building synergies and collaboration with partners and donor agencies
  • Strong advocacy and representation skills
  • Experience of supervising and mentoring staff and volunteers
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Ability to effectively work remotely if necessary (via email, online)
  • Previous experience with MHPSS and/or Protection programming is an asset

 

Languages

 

  • Fluency in Arabic - spoken and written
  • Fluency in English-spoken and written
