 Background:

Established in 2015, the Institute for Reproductive Health and Rights (IRH&R) is a not-for-profit professional institution operating as a social enterprise committed to promoting the reproductive and sexual well-being of all Sudanese people with special attention to women, girls, youth and minorities.

IRH&R is a growing Institution with opportunities for young and middle level professional to join a dynamic high quality creative work environment and acquire experiences and skills to advance within the Institution or to better compete at national regional and international levels.

Program Summary

The Sudan Free of FGC [SFFGC] Program is focusing on three areas of activity of the Institute’s work on Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting which are:

  1. Material development which includes researching and explaining scientific facts and developing counseling methods appropriate to various individuals and groups.
  2. AnaLan, the Sudanese Youth Initiative to stop Khitan, including overseeing social media presence and production of artistic and cultural content
  3. The “One Million Voices Campaign” to stop Khitan, including reaching out to engage different institutions, organizations and individuals to sign on to the campaign and tracking the data collected from various activities and events.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of the SFFGC program different activities including awareness raising and the capacity building activities in his/her respective position;
  • Support the States’ focal persons in the enrolment of eligible groups and members of the Network and in building proper reporting system for the implementation at the state level;
  • Facilitate the execution of the awareness raising and outreach activities regarding the AnaLan Initiative especially in relation to the youth groups;
  • Working with our communications officer and contributing to the IRHR website and AnaLan social media pages by drafting relevant materials and resources;
  • Contribute to effective program reporting, monitoring and evaluation systems for both internal and external use in coordination with the other program staff;
  • Ensure program filing system is in place, adheres to internal and donor regulation and filing is regularly maintained;
  • Adhere to all IRHR policies and values related to HR, operations and information related to the program work;
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to IRHR and to not jeopardize its mission; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

  • As part of our commitment to organizational learning and in support of our understanding that learning organizations are more effective, efficient and relevant to the communities they serve, we expect all team members to commit 5% of their time to learning activities that benefit IRHR as well as themselves.

Works Directly With: Other IRHR Officers, States’ Focal Persons, Finance & HR Department, and the Operations Team.

 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • University Degree in Health or Social Sciences
  • At least two years experiences working in similar position or similar programs
  • Experienced trainer ability is an asset
  • Knowledge of MS Office programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and relational skills
  • Good report writing skills
  • High proficiency is reading and writing in both Arabic and English
  • Able to travel within Sudan for at 20-30% of their time

This is offered as a full time position, with a three-months assessment period, but number of office days and hours of work may be negotiable
