 Background:

The cook works under the guidance and supervision of the HR/Admin Officer, understanding  his job will depend  on the well being of the expatriate team.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Meals:

  • Prepares the meals for lunch and dinner for expatriate staff and national staff in national quest houses
  • Will remain updated on expatriate wishes.
  • Will be flexible in the preparation of the meals and conform to expatriate wishes (more or less oil, more or less salads…)

Pourchases:

  • Will keep record of the purchases he/she did on the appropriate format.
  • He/she will request advance to the logistic and will provide detail of his purchases.
  • He/she will clear his advance before receiving other one.
  •  In case he/she needs new kitchen items, he/she will present his request to the Logistic Officer.

Dish washing:

  •  Must make sure dish washing is done properly at the end of each meal.
  •  Is responsible for the cleanness of the kitchen.
  • Must make sure chlorine/disinfectant is extensively used.
  •  Must empty the fridge & freezer once 2 times a month and thoroughly clean it with chlorine/disinfectant.

Storage:

  • Should freeze as little as possible food. Once de-frozen, food should never be re-frozen.
  •  In case food is frozen, it should be protected with plastic foil.
  • Frozen food shouldn’t be kept in freezer more than 15 days.
  •  In case freezer is de-frozen, food should be eaten.
  • Food should be kept in a dry and cleaned cupboard protected from insects.

 Hygiene:

  • Vegetables should be cleaned thoroughly to avoid contamination.
  • Vegetables should be left 15mn in solution of permanganate.
  • When leaving bathroom, he should clean hands insisting on nails.
  •   Quarterly, he/she should carry out stool tests on IMC expenses. Results should be given to the medical expatriate staff.
  •  Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Higher School Certificates.
  • Certificates of expreince in cooking.
  •  Able to read and write
  •  Physical ability
  •  High Motivated skill
  •   English language preferable.

Salary and Benefits:-

  •  International Medical Corps (IMC) offers a very competitive salary and benefit to its employees.
  • The employee shall receive a monthly gross salary of USD 178.
  • Additionally IMC offers different package of allowances including 21 USD as medical allowance per month.
  • IMC also pays one month basic salary as bonus once every year during Ramadan month {Eid Alfitr}.
