 Duties and responsibilities:

ROLE PURPOSE: The School Feeding Program Coordinator  will be responsible for the day to day implementation of Save the Children  SFP programme in Jabel Awlia. This post will undertake supervision of field based School Feeding staffs, manage the field office, coordinate delivery of programme goods, collect, analyse and forward programme information to the program manager, organise and implement trainings for staff, school feeding personnel and volunteers, , resolve programme related issues and liaise with PTAs, SF teachers and community mobilization and participation in SFP activities.

SCOPE OF ROLE:  Management of school feeding programm, providing leadership for SF program staffs,  implementation and monitorin project activities in liaison with the TPAs, SF teachers / students relevant government bodies or line ministries in Jabel Awlia/Khartoum

Role Dimensions: Save the Children International in Sudan is working across Sudan e.g. Khartoum, South, West and North Kordofan, North, West & Central Darfur States, Blue Nile, and the Red Sea State in Sudan. Our thematic coverage includes child rights governance, child protection, education, health, nutrition, WASH, livelihoods, and humanitarian emergencies. We maintain diversified sources of funding including SIDA, OFDA, ECHO , GSK, WFP , UNICEF , UNHCR , etc.

This is a challenging role in a complex environment. It requires a dedicated, experienced and highly motivated individual who can manage the difficulties of living and working in such an environment and still be fundamental in helping to drive forward our programmes and our ambitions

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Programme Management:

  • Manage SF programme in the field office, draw project implementation plans, assess progress of activities implementation against plans on monthly basis, and document the progress and action corrective measures as and when required.
  • To provide leadership and example to the School Feeding staffs under his control and ensure compliance with school feeding standard operating procedures, organisational guidelines and policies.
  • Coordinate and work in harmony with Finance, Logistics, and operation departments to ensure that all programme objectives are achieved on time to budget and in an efficient manner
  • Develop detailed project / program work plans along with budget and implementation strategies.
  • To ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with SCI standard operation procedures, policies and guidelines
  • Ensure projects are regularly monitored by SCI, partner organization and, concerned stakeholders with appropriate monitoring checklist.
  • To conduct monitoring and supervision visits to the schools to ascertain programme quality and compliance with set standards.
  • Producing and compiling weekly, monthly, end of term and program final report to inform   programme direction. Share relevant reports as a feedback mechanism to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Advise the SPM of issues arising which affect the, proper operation of the programme. Resolve issues based on advice provided.
  •  Liaise with schools, local government, local community leaders and other organisations to ensure the efficient implementation of the programme.
  • Assist the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team in undertaking MEL activities as required.
  • To assist in producing and compiling special Donor Reports and funding applications.
  • To provide feedback on the lessons learned from the implementation of field activities and make recommendations for improvements as required.

 

Lgistics & Supply Chain:

  • Ensuring that programme resources given to members of School Feeding team are accounted for.
  • Help in organizing logistics components to ensure programme supplies are in adequate measures in schools at all times.
  • Collect, verify and analyse information required for delivery of programme goods. Ensuring that organization assets and equipment are taken care of and that staff are practising due diligence when dealing acting for SCI’s SFP
  • Take overall responsibility for managing the field office, ensuring efficient application of SCI’s policies, procedures and administrative systems and the application of the Management Standards of the organisation.
  • Ensure operations and logistic supports are properly managed as per the requirement of the field office.
  • Serve as point person to promote and implement Child Safeguarding Policy in field (Mandatory)

 

People’s  Management:

  • Contribute / suggest to the development of SFP staffing structure in the field, based on programmatic, administrative and financial requirements of the SFP
  • Work closely with HR and senior programme manager to ensure staff positions are in place to deliver effective programs
  • Ensure all staff members have clear performance objectives, based on their job descriptions and evaluate the staff's performances and provide feedback for their performance improvement and capacity building
  • Organize different forum and meeting to keep abreast of progress/plan at field level. In addition, organise regular general staff meetings (monthly).

 

Financial and Administration:

  • Develop activity expenditure plan and communicate the same to SPM
  •  Assist in the development of annual programme budget
  • Assist in the processing of advance requests and follow through on the retirement of such advances
  • Manage School Feeding staff in liaison with HRM and appropriate support departments
  • Ensuring members of the programme team are conversant with all policy requirements and that they are complying with the same.
  • Managing Human Resource related emerging issues including discipline of staff.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • At least 3 years of progressively working on programs with INGOs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic

 

Desireable

  • Willingness to learn and share information
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a team. 
  • Good computer skills in MS packages (Computer Applications; word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong leadership skills including ability to be in control of delegated responsibilities.
  • Interpersonal Communication Skills.
  • Strong reporting skills and experience in developing donor reports.
  • Working independently with limited supervision.
  • Practical experience of programme monitoring and evaluation.
  • Proven ability to work to programmes and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyse large volumes of diverse data.
  • Well developed community mobilization skills
  • Good knowledge of financial management in the NGO sector.
  •  Computer literate in Microsoft packages especially Excel and Word
  • Energy and self motivation.
  • Outstanding ability to self-organize
