 Duties and responsibilities:

ROLE PURPOSE:

Emergency Response clinical officer will be fully embedded into the Emergency Response Unit of SCI Sudan based in Health Facility and on a rotational basis depending on need, with the possibility of deployment to any other parts of Sudan SCI Operational zones. Will have overall responsibility for patient care in her particular professional areas with flexibility to work in other disciplines. The Emergency Response clinical officer will be responsible for the management of patients in consolation room, Maternal and Child Health clinics, inpatient wards and patients in isolation wards like CTC and participating in mass vaccination campaigns. Will also be expected to participate in responding to disasters like disease outbreaks, floods, drought and population displacement

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Role Dimensions:

  • HE/SHE will work in clinics, mobile clinics, isolation wards, CTC, SAM Treatment centres etc. for 8 or longer hours in a day depending nature of the emergency response and the on the discretion of the Line Manager.
  • She / He will carry out any other duties assigned to her or him by the Line Manager including being the focal point for Child Safeguarding when deployed outside SCI operational areas

Reports to: Emergency Health Unit Lead

Number of direct reports:

  • Junior staff (e.g. nurse, Community midwives, Nurse Assistants etc.) who may be integrated into the emergency response team or who work in health facilities where this Midwife may be deployed.

Work with Emergency Team:

  • Nurses, WASH Officer, CP Officer and Nutrition Officer
  • KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    • Provide direct clinical care to patient at different facilities.
    • Upgrade the level of serviced provided at SCI facilities
    • Respond to emerges through direct deployment to different field offices

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • MBBS from recognized faculty of medicines with at least 2 years working experience in a busy hospital
  • Experience working in emergency settings is a must.
  • Demonstrable experience in ward management and staff supervision
  • Training and capacity building experience
  • Working experience in insecure and remote settings will be an added advantage
  • Good communication skills
  • Desired:  

    ·         Previous experience in humanitarian field  

    Public health diploma or MSC
