Background: This project contributes to empowering rural communities, women included, with basic literacy skills and sheep and goat breeding skills in North Kordufan and White Nile states in selected communities covered by the ILO’s CAPISUD project under the supervision and close collaboration with the TREE committees at state and locality levels. It further aims to support the National Council for Literacy and Adult Education to enhance the Community Learning Centers (CLC) in Sudan as well as promoting sustainable options to improve literacy among women in North Kordufan and White Nile states. This project intends to provide technical skills to communities organized by the TREE committees and create TREE Community Committees (TCC) in each of the targeted communities to inherit the CLCs and downstream the local and state TREE committees to community level. The project will provide education to the community members within their reach at their location by providing literacy classes using REFLECT. This methodology will be adapted to integrate sheep and goat breeding during the first 3 months of the implementation of the course. The project also aims at supporting the Supreme Council for Vocational Training and Industrial Apprenticeship by providing a technical training program targeting rural communities on how to improve their sheep and goat production.
