 Background:

Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) is an international Italian NGO established in 1965. Since its establishment, COOPI has been undertaking activities to help and empower the poor and needy in different countries. COOPI Sudan started its operation in 2004 and has been primarily implementing emergency, relief and early recovery programs in water hygiene and sanitation, food security and livelihood, nutrition and protection sectors.

COOPI is currently implementing several projects in North Darfur, Kassala and Khartoum in the sectors of WASH, Food Security and Livelihood, Climate Change adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction and Refugee Response.

 

Under the framework of the on-going projects, COOPI is looking for qualified and competent Assistant project Manager to carry out the assigned activities in the sector of competence

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

COOPI is seeking to hire qualified and experienced national staff to cover the position of Assistant Project Manager.

Under the direct supervision of Project Manager, the Assistant PM is expected to provide his/ her professional technical experience to perform the assigned duties along the contract period together with the Technical team of the Project and commitment for enhancement of teamwork and capacity building.

The role of Assistant Project Manager is to be responsible for the overall implementation of the assigned projects including following up with stakeholders on the completion or delay of project phases, scheduling meetings, and maintaining project documents and reports. She/he will support the monitoring and supervision of project activities, conduct, collect relevant information from the field as part of needs assessment and as follow up analysis. She/he will report to COOPI project manager. He/She might be the Referent for some specific subjects and/or tasks on the base of what will be decided with Project Manager (Focal Point for the TA etc…)

He/she will be responsible to:

  • Management Tasks

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible to ensure the implementation of project activities and ensure that they will be carried out in the respect of donor and COOPI guidance and policies. She/he will regularly issue a monthly plan, in accordance with Project Manager’s working plan. She/he will be responsible on following up with stakeholders on the completion or delay of project phases, scheduling meetings, and maintaining project documents and reports.

  • Monitoring

The PM Assistant will be responsible in supporting the PM with updated data on the project. She/he will produce monitoring checklists, organize ad hoc field assessment and conduct field joint assessment on quarterly base, providing feedbacks and recommendations for timely improvement in collaboration with COOPI MEAL Team.

                           

  • Administration & Logistic

The PM Assistant will support logistic procedures and financial reporting by ensuring the correct delivery of project items and the correct implementation of activities. She/he will support the communication with contractors and stakeholders. He/she will report directly to the PM.

  • Reporting & Analysis

The PM Assistant will be responsible to follow up with stakeholders on the completion or delay of project phases, scheduling meetings, and maintaining project documents and reports. Moreover she/ he will collect relevant information from the field as part of needs assessment and as follow up analysis. Furthermore, She/he can be appointed as Focal Person on specific issues on the base of his/her attitude, experience and academic background.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Requirements:

  • University degree in relevant field: International Cooperation for Development, Business and Administration.
  • Excellent knowledge of Project Cycle Management and basic tools of planning.
  • Experience in reporting, particularly to International donors, basic knowledge of AICS or general International donor procedures.
  • Good organizational and time management skills: planning, filing, ability to work under pressure, confidence with administrative procedures.
  • IT skills: Computer proficiency in MS Excel is strongly required (particularly on pivot tables, info-graphics). Proficiency in MS Word, Power Point, database, spreadsheet and graphics presentations.
  • Understands international standards in humanitarian protection and accountability (e.g. HAP, SPHERE, Red Cross Code of Conduct, etc)
  • Experience in the implementation of monitoring system.
  • Mother tongue Arabic, excellent knowledge of English.
  • Very good skills in communication and inter- personal relations.
  • Proven experience and capacities in team- working.
  • At least one year of experience in the role.
  • Technical Knowledge in GIS, WASH sector, Disaster Risk Reduction and Data Collection, management and analysis will be considered an asset.
