The Humanitarian Advocacy, Communications and Media Manger in his/her capacity is responsible for providing leadership to ensure excellence in our public and private facing for the Sudan Humanitarian Crises advocacy, communications and media.
S/he will support the Humanitarian Team to develop and implement the responses advocacy, communication and media work, manage all related initiatives and liaise with other stakeholders on behalf of Save the Children. The post holder will be also responsible for the contribution and implementation of all communication, advocacy and media aspects of the CO humanitarian strategy in close coordination with the Heal of ACCM and Humanitarian Manager
The function will be a focal person for all advocacy, media and communication enquiries related to the Sudan crisis from Save the Children International, Regional Offices and individual Save the Children members. The post holders will also be responsible for putting through CO humanitarian advocacy messages through the development of SITREPs, briefs and communication content working closely with Humanitarian team, Zonal Heads of Program Implementation and field teams. The function will ensure that key advocacy messages are adhered to, and will seek clarification on any politically sensitive matters which may impact upon programmer operations.

Our thematic coverage includes child rights governance, child protection, education, health, nutrition, WASH, livelihoods, and emergencies. We maintain diversified sources of funding including sida, OFDA, ECHO, EC, , and UN pooled funds (SHF), UN Agencies. Maintaining good relationship with donors, implementing partners and continues communication with stakeholders are essential to facilitate implementation of the post holder responsibilities.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Contribute to the CO humanitarian strategy and annual and response plans
Work with the Humanitarian teams to provide technical support in identifying key programme sector/theme specific policy and practice related advocacy issues,
Develop specific advocacy plans for humanitarian Reponses and interventions.
Prepare relevant advocacy messages and statement for the purpose of internal and external use, in coordination with head of ACCM and Humanitarian Manager.
Undertake critical analysis about the situation of children based on thorough context (local, national and global) assessments and identify major humanitarian advocacy issue (s) Save the Children needs to embark on or address with or without other stakeholders to ensure the fulfilment, respect and protection of children’s rights in Sudan.
Play a lead role in establishing or strengthening partnerships with relevant stakeholders in strategic areas of interest for Save the Children objectives.
Provide leadership in linking local, national, regional and global advocacy efforts in the Save the Children International network as the context allows
Represent the Country Office in all related humanitarian advocacy forums at the national, international and regional level.
Support the development and presentation of contents in articles, stories, strategic statements, sitreps, photos, messaging, fact sheets and multimedia for Save the Children’s key audience – internally and externally.
Ensure the branding and communications guidelines of Save the Children are consistent across the country office humanitarian responses and interventions.
Lead on information and communication flows between emergency responses and a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including communication enquiries related to the Sudan crisis from Save the Children International, Regional Offices and individual Save the Children members.
Act as a the focal point for uploading humanitarian related communication content in Sudan Country Office website, share point ,One Net and social media accounts as well as uploading and managing the stories and content in contenthub. In addition to updating the Humanitarian Analysis Reporting Tool (HART).
Lead on developing and implementing effective ways of communicating lessons learnt, good practices, evidences of changes and use them to influence policy and practice changes with various stakeholders including communities, partners, donors etc.
Manage the production of compelling photo stories, case studies, audio-visual materials from the field to highlight humanitarian crises and intervention by Save the Children’s work, including commissioning of photography and film when required in line with save the children humanitarian communication toolkit.
Identify international and national moments to highlight humanitarian needs and situation in Sudan.
· With the support of Head of ACCM identify media issues, prepare media messages, talking points, Q&A’s, assess appropriate media for communicating those messages and facilitate the process of disseminating/communicating those messages after securing the approval of the Country Director.
· When needed draft press releases for humanitarian crises in coordination with head of ACCM and Humanitarian Manager.
· Track and monitor interviews and media coverage in Sudan in humanitarian related issues.
As appropriate establish proactive and beneficial relationship with media outlets that can help engage Save the Children in advancing children’s rights.
