Migration “PROTECT” Project Coordinator

 Responsible for: PROTECT Project staff in the HQ and branches and volunteers
 Supervisor: 1. SRCS Programme Manager– line manager 2. SRCS Migration Advisor and DRC Migration Delegate– technical management and support
 Duty Station: SRCS HQ in Khartoum, with regular travels to the states, in particular Northern state, River Nile, Red Sea and other relevant states
 Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension

 Background:

Purpose:

The Migration PROTECTProject Coordinator, in close collaboration with the DRC Migration delegate will be responsible foroverall management of the SRCS/DRC Migration project“PROTECT”, co-funded by European Union Trust Fund and Danish MoFA. The project seeks to improve the protection of migrants in vulnerable situations along the Northern migratory route in Sudan through SRCS humanitarian intervention in four main target states: Northern state, River Nile, Red Sea and Khartoum.

All project activities are to be carried out through the established SRCS structures and will be based on the Fundamental principles, values and policies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

The Migration Project Coordinator willensure effective project implementation in accordance with the SRCS standards and the EU requirements including supporting and mentoring staff and volunteers implementing project activities in the target SRCS Branches.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Key responsibilities

 Main tasks

Programme implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting

  • Coordinate planning and designing activities in the target Branches as per the project description and specific needs of migrants in respective states
  • Ensure effective and timely project implementation
  • Ensure timely submission ofnarrative and financial reports to SRCS Programme Manager and DRC Migration delegate, as per SRCS and EU requirements
  • Maintain regular monitoring of the project progress and clear financial accountability by working closely with finance team to maintain proper financial standards as per the SRCS/DRC financial SOPs and EU requirements
  • Ensure safe, dignifiedand quality service delivery to migrants and host communities in accordance with protection standards

Capacity development and technical support

  • Enhance the capacity of SRCSBranch Project staff and volunteers to deliver quality and timely servicesby on the job trainings and by facilitating workshops in coordination with the Branch Directors, SRCS Migration Advisor, SRCS Programme Director, DRC Migration Delegate and relevant advisors
  • Supervise, coach and mentor project team in theHQ and in target Branches

Representation and liaison

  • Attend relevant coordination meetings to establish partnershipsand enhance collaboration among relevant stakeholders at the national and state level
  • Engage in advocacy and Humanitarian Diplomacy activities with relevant authorities and partnerspromoting the SRCSand the RCRC Movement policy on migration and displacement

Management and strategy development

  • Make field based recommendations to the SRCS Programme Directorand DRC Migration Delegateon the best courseofaction
  • Contribute to development and implementation of the SRCS Migrationand displacement policy and practice based on evidence and good practice

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Personal qualifications

Education

Background in Social Sciences such as a BA/Masters in Law, social work,community development, psychology, sociology,anthropology, management  and related fields

Experience and Knowledge

 

  • More than 5 years’ experience in a similar position in a humanitarian organization or NGO, with more than 2 years’ experience in the area of Migration/refugees/IDPs and/or protection
  • At least 5 years of project management experience including reporting
  • Good leadership, organizational communication and advocacy skills
  • Strong interpersonal and cross cultural skills for building synergies and collaboration with partners, beneficiaries and donor agencies
  • Ability to develop, monitor, report and evaluate activities
  • Strong facilitation skills and knowledge about adult learning methodologies
  • Experience ofsupervision and mentoring
  • Self-supporting in computers (Windows, spreadsheets, power point)
  • Ability to effectively work remotely if necessary (via email, online)

Languages

 

  • Fluency in Arabic - spoken and written
  • Fluency in English-spoken and written

  • Willing to work in the field conditions, to travel extensively to project locations
  • Ability to assume various roles and assignments as directed by the immediate supervisor within the scope of the SRCS mandate
