Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent), is required, in Political Science, Management or Development, or a related field. A first level university degree with a combination of two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience, is required, in political science, political analysis, international relations, law, disarmament, security, development management, conflict resolution or related area.
A minimum of three years of experience in outreach with government and political officials, civil society, armed movements, humanitarian actors, and other stakeholders is required.
A minimum of three years of work experience in Darfur is required in political, peace and security, conflict resolution and peacebuilding, or other relevant work is required.
Experience in advising senior officials is desirable.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English and Arabic is required.
Fluency in/Knowledge of an additional languages of Sudan is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
