 Background:

Elruhama Organization for Development and Humanitarian Aid is a national nongovernmental organization, and humanitarian organization committed to livelihood and food security, education, health, nutrition, peace building, protection, NFI, water sanitation and hygiene through HQ and field offices in South Darfur State, East Darfur State, Central Darfur State, North Darfur State, South Kordofan State, east Kordofan State and White Nile State.  

 

Elruhama is looking for Protection Officer He/she  will Lead and coordinate the implementation of protection activities in all areas that Elruhama has activities in the targeted areas. Develop trend analysis, information dissemination and referrals according to Donor standards in Protection work. Guarantee the Ensure qualitative and timely planning, implementation and monitoring/evaluation of Elruhama protection monitoring activities in compliance with Sphere standards and protection cluster.

The Protection Officer will directly be accountable in the development, administration and implementation of the Elruhama protection programs.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure – through clear weekly and monthly work plans – protection monitoring, field assessments, community-based activities, especially life-skills, socio-recreational and awareness raising activities, are carried out in a timely, effective and technically sound manner.   
  • Supervise and facilitate participatory protection assessment – applying the Age, Gender and Diversity Mainstreaming approach - to fully understand the displaced population in its diversity, their protection concerns and priorities, and the resources available to them.   
  • Support the collection of information/data about vulnerability, protection needs and concerns of the targeted population.   
  • Ensure that the above-described protection information gathering, sharing and filing are done in accordance with agreed information management system that respects the dignity and ensure the confidentiality of the information sources   
  • Act as focal point for the identification and referral of Vulnerable Individuals and People with Specific Protection Needs for adequate assistance according to protection cluster referral criteria.   
  • Manage individual protection cases, including maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent.  
  • Conduct follow-up monitoring visits to ensure that needs have been met in an appropriate manner and beneficiary have the opportunity to provide feedback on the assistance received.   
  • Ensure dissemination of clear and reliable information on service provision and other preselected key topics.  
  • Contribute to the establishment/maintenance of a referral pathway, respectful of the confidentiality principle SOP.  
  • Contribute to building the capacities of local actors through involvement in their capacity-building planning, localized protection network meetings and co-facilitating their training sessions.  
  • Keep a database of the number of beneficiaries per activity in each location, disaggregated by sex   
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Line  Manager;  

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education: BSC degree of social sciences or any field related to

Experience: Three years professional experience in relevant and similar position in an environment work

Desirable: Working experience in   NGOs

Languages: Essential fluent written and spoken English and Arabic 

Computer: Essential proficient user of MS office especially

  • Proven work experience of communication skills: written, spoken and interpersonal, writing, editing and packaging donor reports.
  • Solid knowledge of working with international NGO
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Knowledge of organizational behaviour regulations
  • Excellent analytical and  numerical skills

  • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data
