 Duties and responsibilities:

  1. AREA/DEPARTMENT GENERAL OBJECTIVES

To support programmatic implementation and monitoring of WASH and develop the WASH strategy for the mission in coordination with the nutrition and health, food security livelihoods, and mental health care practices gender protection sectors

Project Management – organization and planning along with technical expertise and supervision during co-implementation of project between AAH Sudan and local partner

Result-focused – reporting on indicators to measure progress of project

Effective communication – as intermediary between AAH capital office and local partner

Analytical analysis – required for report-writing and for informing AAH capital office / HQ on changes to be made on time, if required, as reported by staff from the field

 

  1. POSTIONS DESCRIPTION

 

  1.  POSTION GENERAL OBJECTIVE

 

The overall objective of the post is to implement the strategy, manage WASH officers at state levels in order to develop and ensure the implementation of the project in order to achieve the results in accordance with the project proposal.

 

 

  1.  POSITON SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES AND TASKS.

 

Responsibility 1: Accountable for achieving objectives, delivering results and implementing all activities described in project documents.

  • To ensure the smooth running of the tasks according to the financial reporting and financing cycle of the project according to the rules and procedures in force ;
  • Ensure planning and monitoring according to implementation guidelines and other procedures
  • To ensure the follow-up of the subcontracted activities, as well as the quality of the works (supplies and services) and is a guarantee of their sustainability ;
  • Ensure the follow-up and evaluation of actions and drafting of ad hoc activity reports;
  • Participate in monitoring the security context of the area and propose appropriate measures to ensure maximum security for his team;
  • Capitalize, synthesize and disseminate information in the following ways:
    • Compile project data, analyze and write activity-based capitalization reports ;
    • Contribute to the drafting of quarterly newsletters for partners, under validation of the Direct Manager;
    • Participate in AAH internal general meetings ;
    • To capitalize on the technical and training tools, as well as the experiences developed within the framework of the project ;
    • Contribute to the drafting of new project proposals.

Responsibility 2: Provide support for the development and implementation of AAH's strategy in the intervention zone.

  • Ensuring the identification and intervention strategy to cover areas and disciplines not yet covered by ongoing actions ;
  • To monitor the humanitarian situation in the area and propose the guidelines for action it deems necessary in the light of developments in the situation.

Responsibility 3: Ensure the good cohesion, information, training and organization of his / her team in order to achieve objectives and results.

  • Train and supervise AAH WASH Officers, local partner staff and community volunteers ;
  • Supervise following of team's work schedules  at various states of intervention ;
  • Provide technical and methodological support to the project team ;
  • Ensure the proper management and use of work equipment ;
  • Comply with the specific security rules of the mission and base security plan, ensure that the personnel in their charge comply with the plan and carry out security management tasks that may be added to the protocols.

Responsibility 4: Ensure communication and complementarity with other stakeholders in the intervention area

  • Relay the organization's activities and objectives to communities and local partners;
  • Develop contacts and explain to local partners and the population the activities and objectives of the project;
  • Representing the organisation to the beneficiaries/partners with the agreement of the direct manager ;
  • To popularize all the actions and interventions carried out by the organization in the region;
  • Participate in any other task related to the WASH project and activities of AAH in Sudan ;
  • To defend the points of view developed by AAH-Sudan i.e. the basic principles of AAH Sudan and the positions developed during the progress of the programme, in consultation between himself/herself, the line manager and the rest of the team.

 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Training:

Hydraulic or sanitary engineer and/or experience in the field of water, hygiene and sanitation in general and/or HWT and WIS in particular

Technical specific knowledge:

  • Knowledge of FSL and nutrition appreciated
  • Knowledge of IEC-CCC awareness techniques
  • Knowledge of HWT techniques

Previous experience (years):

  • At least 2 years of proven experience in project management
  • Proven experience in team management and human resources management
  • Previous experience in WIS and/or HWT projects would be an asset
  • Previous experience in the area of intervention would be an asset.

Humanitarian sector knowledge:

 

Prior humanitarian experience required

Organization knowledge:

Prior INGO experience required  

Languages:

Fluent written and oral English and Arabic mandatory

 

IT systems:

 

Perfect mastery of Word, Excel, Power Point

Mobility (national/ international)

Based in Khartoum, with frequent trips to áreas of intervention in Central Darfur, South Kordofan, White Nile and Blue Nile states
