Duties and responsibilities: These two (2) positions are located in the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS). The United Nations Security Council adopted resolution 2524 (2020) authorizing the mandate of UNITAMS which is to assist the political transition, progress towards democratic governance, in the protection and promotion of human rights, and sustainable peace; support peace processes and implementation of future peace agreements; assist peacebuilding, civilian protection and rule of law, in particular in Blue Nile and South Kordofan (the Two Areas) and Darfur; and support the mobilisation of economic and development assistance and coordination of humanitarian assistance. One (1) position is based in El Fasher, Sudan. The position is located in the Mission Support in El Fasher (Darfur Hub)/Medical Services. The incumbent will report to the Medical Officer. One (1) position is based in Kassala, Sudan. The position is located in the Mission Support Centre in Kassala. The incumbent will report to the Medical Officer. Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: Education: Completion of high school and further formal education/training in nursing such as registered Professional Nurse designation or equivalent is required. Work Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive clinical experience in the medical field and hospital is required. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Nursing Care is required. Experience in emergency or intensive care is desirable Experience in the United Nations system or a comparable international organization is desirable. Languages: English is the working language of the United Nations Secretariat. For the advertised positions, fluency in English is required. Fluency in Arabic is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
