 Duties and responsibilities:

  • The Project Coordinator will report to the Emergency Response Program CoordinatorS/he will work collaboratively with the Area WHAS and Health Manager/coordinators and other respective Program Implementation Managers in each of the project sites.  He/she will work closely with local implementing partners and Ministry of Health Staff.
  • Manage the project security matters and the affairs of the project partners.
  • Provide direct technical guidance during the project execution and ensure efficiency in the processes and effectiveness in achieving the planned objective in a manner to reach the desired outcomes and impact.
  • Ensure that Plan’s and the Donor policies and procedures are continuously adhered to in the project’s planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation phases.
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the Local partners Project Officers to ensuring that the global program quality framework and other relevant policies (e.g child protection, security and gender equality policies) are embedded within the PA day to day operations and staffs are competent, committed to move forward with their implementation. 
  • Strengthening capacity for behavioural change communication for hygiene and health promotions.
  • Develop technical and strategic papers on how the project milestones will be implemented and approved by Project Manager.
  • Proven experience and skills in implementing projects on WASH and health Promotion are essential, with special attention on community-based interventions for high impact.   
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion and WASH     in those sectors including water –borne diseases.

 

Accountabilities

  • Working with the Emergency Response Programs Coordinator, WASH and Health Manager and technical staff to review the project scope, definition and terms of reference in order to plan effectively.
  •  Work closely with the Project Manager and technical staff to achieve program objectives and targets effectively and efficiently.
  • Help with activity verification and monitoring (stock and program quality) at supported facilities to ensure smooth, high-quality project implementation.
  • Facilitate coordination meetings, advocacy meetings and awareness raising sessions at the community level, together with the partner and community health and nutrition promoters.
  • Support in Identifying and assessing the benefits and risks associated with the project,develop a plan for delivering benefits and strategies to mitigate risks and resolve issues.
  • Participate in conduction of situational analysis and other M&E activities as necessary under the guidance of the Sector lead and Program Quality Managers.
  • Ensure program targets are met using the M&E plan and logical framework. 
  • Collect and compile project data regularly to submit to the project Manager, including case studies, success stories and photographs of facilities.
  • Provide regular updates on inventory of medical and non-medical items supported by the project (information / data collected through monitoring visits)
  • Attend external meetings if/when assigned to represent Plan International Sudan.
  • Improve the quality of Nutrition, health and FSL/Livelihood services delivered through priority setting, on-job training, and continuous monitoring.
  • Provide inputs for donor requirements in data collection and reporting for health, Nutrition        and FSL/ Livelihood services.
  • Provide linkages with Health, Nutrition and Livelihood counterparts in other humanitarian organizations, local actors and within government structures.
  • Provide technical support to the program team in preparing and conducting needs assessments.
  • Participate effectively in project audits, reviews and evaluation.
  • Ensure that proper documentation of the project’s interventions and activities is maintained.
  • To be responsible for giving presentations about the project to key internal and external stakeholders to promote awareness of commitment to the project in the area of the health and nutrition.
  • Ensure the community-based activities such as nutrition screening, healthand hygiene education are done properly.
  • Build the capacity of partner’s staffs through proper coaching and training.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and annual work plans for the health /nutrition and Livelihood project.
  • Ensure that Plan’s and the Donor policies, compliance and procedures are continuously adhered to in the project’s planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation phases.
  • Work with the partner to make sure quality narrative and financial reports are submitted to project manage on time.
  • Conduct site visits regularly to monitor implementation and submit monthly reports on project progress.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

  • Develop and apply project MER tools that allow (i) proper planning of project activities, milestones and reporting dates and (ii) and tracking of girls and children reached.
  • Ensure that lessons learned case studies are captured and properly documented and archived by carrying out regular project/program reviews.

 

Capacity Building

  • To identify the needs and support development of staff and partners to increase their competence project delivery.
  • To participate in the recruitment, selection and induction of staff

 

Representations

  • Management of project representation matters and ensures attendance of all relevant coordination forums and events at state levels.
  • Develop and maintain processes to ensure exert of high value liaison effort with Government Authorities, the donor, humanitarian community etc. on matters related to the project

 

Others

  • Any other functions and responsibilities of appropriate nature to project Management assigned by the supervisor

 

Key relationships

Internal Communication:

  • Emergency Response Program Coordinator – High level of Communication to report, seek approvals, sharing views to strengthen the program areas and to ensure continues support for the program.
  • Project Manager – High level of communication to support and provide hand holding support to understand the model and to respond to queries
  • Regular communication with program department in PA to share work progress and updates and technical follow up.

 

External Communication:

  • Partners – high level of communication to share and understand progress of the program.
  • Advisory\steering Committee – Low level of communication in form of sharing program outcomes on quarterly basis.

 

Physical Environment

  • Must work in busiest environment outside the office with multi stakeholders.
  • Must work outside in an extremely hot and humid climate to perform tasks related to program.
  • Must work under high stresses.
  • Must work off hours after daily working hours when ever requirement arises

Knowledge and expertise

  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience focused on Health and WASH field and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and coordinate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including national and local government, donors, community-based organizations, and the private sector.
  • Established relationship with MoH and substantive knowledge of the WASH, Health and JPF regulations.

 

Essential

  •  Degree (BSC) in a relevant field including international development, Public Health and Civil Engineer or other any relevant field with an additional 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Spoken and written proficiency in English. Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

 

Desirable

  • Understanding and commitment to Plan International values, mission and mandate.
  • Proven ability to influence change at an operational and strategic level based on Plan International’s Country Strategy both among staff and implementing partners

Salary and Benefits:
