 Background:

The Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation is a local organization of businesses and companies in Khartoum with the intention to develop and further the interests of local companies and businesses in Sudan. Many businesses are international operating companies with offices in Sudan.

 

Members of a Chamber of Commerce are usually international and local operating companies, such as lawyers, property developers, tourism companies, airlines, manufacturing companies, import and export businesses, banks, finance companies, legal advisors, IT and electronics manufacturers etc.

 

Chambers of Commerce main activities are, among others, safeguarding business interests and sharing business experiences and business interests, contact with governments, civil society, local media and the press and organizing trade shows and events.

 

 SBEF recently launched a project in in partnership with the Center for International private Enterprise to support SBEF in the restructuring process and also to strengthen its capacity to combat COVID19. SBEF is looking for a qualified candidate to work as a Project Manager for this project.

 

This position is responsible for providing administrative and programmatic support to SBEF, coordinating its activities, and working closely with donors and other partners to implement the different initiatives.

 

The Project Managerwill establish and maintain SBEF network, arrange for its activities, plan, and facilitate events, and report regularly to both SBEF and donors.

 

This position is based in Khartoum, Sudan with possible travel throughout the country and region when determined safe based on Sudan national COVID-19 guidelines. 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage all communication related to the project
  • Manage all the major components under this project
  • Coordinate with donors contractors to facilitate conducting the different studies and surveys related to this project
  • Regularly update the senior management team of SBEF about the program’s activities
  • Coordinate and implement virtual and physical forums and events for SBEF Project
  • Provide weekly updates to donnors, and narrative and financial reports as indicated in the agreements
  • Provide technical support to programming
  • Facilitate and lead discussion in events/meetings/and roundtables as needed
  • Manage communications with local and international stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communications with the government to help the Public Private Dialogue
  • Supervise the process of drafting a Request for Proposal for the SBEF database
  • Support the procurement of SBEFcontractors
  • Meet with contractors on a bi-weekly basis and send status reports to donors.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in International Relations/Development business, or related field required; graduate degree preferred 
  • Minimum five years of professional experience working with local/international civil society, administration, and communications 
  • Familiarity with the Sudanese private sector, and the local context, previous work with SBEF is preferred
  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking and analytical skills 
  • Fluency in professional written and spoken English 
  • Ability to work in a team environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, establish and maintain good relationships with international/local partners, and ability to communicate with government agencies as well. 
  • Strong presentation skills  
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 
  • Strong moderation and facilitation skills and skills in MS Office, specifically MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
