 Duties and responsibilities:

The SHF Project Manager’s main role is to coordinate, lead and manage the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of a high quality and innovative implementation of Health & Nutrition Projects in an integrated manner to deliver an immediate and lasting change for children and their families. The post holder will have some contacts with members, partners and other departments of the Country office programme to ensure a smooth management of project. Oversee start-up activities, recruitment of local sectoral staff in collaboration with the Admin & HR Manager, draft reports, initiate budgets and establish and maintain management systems for funded programs/projects

Programme Management and Integration

  • Responsible for timely, efficient and effective delivery of a high quality, community support projects – focused on achieving sustainable changes for the targeted communities.
  • Ensure the thematic program is in line with donor and global strategic priorities and technical advice from the Save the Children Managing and Participating Member organisation.
  • Monitor and promote all aspects of integrated programming in a way that increases overall impact of Health, Nutrition projects at the community level
  • Budget-holding responsibility for this project as per SoD for the CO. Project, analyse, and review funding surpluses, gaps, underspending and overspends if any, and ensure that appropriate mechanisms/ strategies are in place to manage funding.
  • Set the programme objectives, advocacy strategy, work-plan and budget in consultation with all stakeholders.
  • Monitor community projects to ensure that these are managed within the constraints of their budgets, as agreed with the donor, and that transactions comply with Save the Children’s financial policies.
  • Ensure compliance to systems and processes for planning and reporting to head offices and donors.
  • Provide support and supervision to staff to ensure successful implementation of program and provide opportunities for staff development. Provide recommendations for improvement and agree on action plan with the field teams.
  • Ensure the effective monitoring, evaluation and documentation of the program, and that any learning is built into the design of future program work (especially as regards to impact, sustainability and replicable).
  • Ensure program staff safety and security, and ensure donor requirements and all Save the Children policies and principles are upheld at all time.
  • Be responsible for the coordination of the SHF project in North Kordofan. Coordinate program implementation with other Save the Children sectors, and represent the program to local government representatives, donors, partner agencies, etc. as required.
  • Community support projects Activities Implementation

     

    • Ensure DIPs and procurement plans for the project are developed and submitted to Award on time.
    • Review BVAs and IPTTs and summaries its main findings on monthly basis and participate in the monthly review meetings. This is to insure efficient track and effective projects implementation.
    • Work with sectoral officers and managers to ensure effective and reliable monitoring processes that are embedded and used effectively and continually to steer project towards greater impact. Work closely with other sectoral staff to ensure an integrated approach to programming and awareness of protection issues;
    • Lead on the development of tools and templates to support the management and implementation of operational aspects of community support projects in line with donor contractual requirements and SCI Quality Framework
    • Provide day to day support to the project staff;
    • Conduct/plan monitoring visits of ongoing schemes and share feedback with line managers
    • Responsible for timely completion of community projects and prepare completion updates
    • Participate in sectoral meetings as required with local government officials, donors, UN, or other NGOs.
    • Work with MEAL team to compile all complaints from different CRMs, review and work with responsible field technical teams or stakeholders to resolve them.

    Research work

    • Support and provide technical assistance to project surveys as well as to baseline or needs assessment studies.

    Programme Development

    • Explore opportunities for improvement to, and/or expansion of existing initiatives, and/or other initiatives in thematic and project area.

    Data collection and Reporting

     

    • Follow up on the submission of reports and ensure report are submitted on time
    • Check quality of reports and ensure all required information is provided by field teams in the right reporting formats.
    • Review the achievements and constraints of the project and provide feedback accordingly;
    • Report the on use of all materials;
    • Support evaluation of the project.
    • Keep every activity documented in soft and hard
    • Maintain documentation files of the activities with relevant stags
    • Get every activity report signed by line manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

 

Education:

  • Graduate Degree Health Science or Public Health,  or other discipline relevant.

 

Total Work Experience (In Yrs):

  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in projects management, preferably with NGOs

 

Sector Experience (In Yrs):

  • Experience in community-based projects, Nutrition, environmental and waste management issues is a preference.
  • Experience with community participatory methods/approaches, monitoring and reporting

Skills:

·         Good Organizational Skills

·         Capacity to relate with other stakeholders

·         Good knowledge of the area of intervention

·         Skills related to participatory research methods, and computer literacy,

·         Ability and willingness to travel extensively to the field, under sometimes difficult and occasionally insecure circumstances.

·         Communication skills to operate with a multinational and multilingual team.

Good English (speaking and writing) is essential
