 Duties and responsibilities:

Business development

  • Work with the Grants Coordinatoron proposal development including writing, editing, document management, compliance, and general support to an efficient system for proposal development
  • Support the Grants Coordinator in organizing and leading program design workshops for all new projects.
  • Work with program teams, finance, supply chain, and others to ensure that all teams are effectively contributing to project development.
  • Ensure that projects are uploaded and monitored using IRC tracking tools.
  • Support the Grants Coordinator to review donor strategies, identifying linkages with Sudan’s Country Strategy.

 

Grants Management and Compliance

  • Support grant revisions and budget realignments including writing, budget reviews, and monitoring donor compliance. 
  • Track expenditure levels on all grants and notify colleagues in country of any major deviations that may result in the IRC not meeting its contractual obligations.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of donor policies, regulations, and procedures and build this knowledge among grants team members.
  • Proactively identify grant compliance risks throughout the portfolio and advise programs, operations, finance and senior management on necessary actions.
  • In concert with the finance team, assist program technical leads and operations staff with understanding the reporting and other compliance requirements on their grants.
  • Work with the Grants Coordinator to organize grant opening, review and closeout meetings, and monitor post-meeting implementation of action points.
  • Oversee the knowledge management of grants material including business development opportunities, proposals, budgets, partner information, reports, donor communications, contracts, and more.

 

Partnership Management

  • Support the vetting, due diligence, and assessment of partners prior to engaging in formal contractual relations with downstream partner organizations
  • Support the development of partner contracts upon completion of vetting including sub-grant agreements and modifications and coordinating with partners as needed.
  • Coordinate with finance and program departments for internal review and clearance of all financial documentation and reporting associated with sub-grants.

 

Donor Communication and Reporting

  • Support the donor reporting process by ensuring that grants are timely, constructive, clear, organized, and responsive to donor needs.
  • As needed,communicate with donors on various issues, updates, and adjustments.
  • Work closely with the M&E team to ensure that statistical reporting is timely, accurate, and responsive to donor needs.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, political science, international affairs, or related subject
  • At least 2 years of experience working in project and/or grants management) and proposal/business development/design, at least one of which must be in a post-conflict setting
  • Some knowledge of donor regulations preferred (UN, USG, EC, DFID, Sida, GFFO, etc.)
  • Superior English writing and editing skills with close attention to detail
  • Good communicator with strong organizational, time management and analytical skills
  • Excellent inter-personal, cultural and diplomatic skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities, meet demanding deadlines and work under pressure in unstable security environments
  • Strong computer skills: must be competent in the use of Windows MS office programs (Word, Excel), email programs, etc.
  • IRC experience a plus

 

Language Skills: 

Fluency in Arabic and good in English, both written and spoken, required.

 

Other Relationships:

  • Internal: SC Department, as well other Finance, Program and support unit staff
  • External: Regional Grants Advisor, IRC’s Program Field Coordinators and Program & Finance staff in other IRC offices managed through IRC Sudan office.

Working Environment: 75% travel to field sites
