 Background:

The overall objective of this post is to contribute to the general WASH programs quality and implementation in South Kordofan where CIS operated such as Abugbiha, Ellirri, Talodi, Rashad, Elabassiyia, Kadugli and Elabassiyia in addition to extend support for other Rural villages or location  when required. s/he shall be posted, with emphasis on maintain high quality  the safe water supply chain, latrines construction, safe excreta, solid waste collection and disposal and Hygiene and awareness.

 

In addition The senior WASH officer might be working in other project areas Where CARE International Switzerland is operates. S/he will provide technical guidance and supervise the WASH partner staff in the planning, assessment and implementation of the stated activities in related the quality aspects, while conducting skills WASH Staff capacity development and to giving support on technical solutions of WASH issues. Leading and conducting assessments, providing technical support on WASH program design, concept papers, proposal development and technical budgeting and research, emergency response teams and assessment teams/ interagency . 

 

This position will be based in Abujebiha office. However the  officer is expected to spend 50% of his/her time in the field with the community, the Senior WASH officer will work interactively with the community and will be staying in the community and must be willing to travel to different project sites. the senior officer will be expected to comply with Care values , and will be supported to facilitate his/her operations within, the framework of the CARE International Switzerland security protocols

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Guide the WASH staff and partner staff in assessing needs, planning, implementing WASH activities and monitoring and Report.
  • Conduct the necessity need assessments and surveys in the operation open areas develop the necessity response.
  • Prepare all WASH data needed for planning and report  gathered in systemic manner.
  • Preparing BoQ for WASH programing and supervise implementation
  • Prepare detailed annual implementation plan and monthly activity plans for WASH activities in the operation area in line with Sector Annual AOP and in consultation with WASH Manger and the other community structures, and ensure timely implementation and regular participatory review.
  • Attend and represent the sector at WASH sector specific coordination meetings ,concerning operation area· and other project areas and provide feedback to CIS
  • Monitor distribution of WASH materials/tools/equipment by WSCs to households to ensure equity and accountability
  • Liaise with procurement and finance team in related to WASH implementation and planning
  • Prepare weekly updates and monthly progress reports of WASH activities in the operation areas , bring out outputs and challenges  clearly
  • lead the review of partners reports and liquidation On the basis of the Cash and Procurement forecast, initiate requisitions for procurement of sanitation materials, tools and equipment in a timely manner
  • Requisition and organize delivery of WASH  materials/tools/equipment to operation area   in a timely manner with close coordination with other related WASH officers and other project areas and provide feedback to CIS
  • Monitor distribution of WASH materials/tools/equipment by WSCs to households to ensure equity and accountability

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • B.Sc. in public health or Sanitation Engineering
  • Good knowledge of water and sanitation issues, and hygiene practice
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in similar position with INGO
  • Teamwork spirit and community mobilization skills
  • perfect data analysis skills, knowledge of PERIMAVERA or Microsoft Project/ AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and influence others.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Proactive in  Problem solving
  • Highly organized, close attention to detail, and ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a fluid environment
  • Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English (written, spoken)
  • Computer skills and practice with Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. are essential
  • Team-working skills; ability to communicate effectively in internal and external settings and provide leadership in team efforts and build effective relations remotely
