Chemonics International is hiring for a new USAID program that aims to support the new government, civil society organizations and independent media to advance key transition priorities. The implementation of this program requires a highly integrated and dynamic team approach to creative, coordinated, and effective program implementation in order to meet the program’s objectives.

 Duties and responsibilities:

The Security Manager/Coordinator will strive to keep the project, staff, and assets safe through strong understanding of the situation in Sudan, combined with regular risk assessments that inform implementation of mitigation measures. The Manager/Coordinator will manage the security situation in all areas of operation, conduct regular security checks, and implement appropriate response measures as well as provide regular training to staff to support the implementation of security procedures, ensuring that all staff are familiar with and adhere to these guidelines.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience working in a related role for other international projects in Sudan;
  • Extensive understanding of Sudanese security issues, including local conflict dynamics, physical security, the role of local security forces, safety and security best practices, and security policy;
  • Relevant experience in assessing risk, crisis management, information gathering, and analysis required;
  • Familiar with Sudan’s geographical, transportation, and infrastructural constraints and comfortable traveling to various parts of Sudan;
  • Previous experience working with an international NGO is preferred;
  • Fluent Arabic and strong English language skills required.
