 Background:

Purpose of the consultancy

 

To assist in the implementation of Rule of Law and Human Rights trainings and sensitizations in West, Central, East, North and South Darfur states.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

UNFPA implementing range of activities under human rights and rule of law components under the State Liaison Functions (SLF) project, the fund is being allocated for the joint implementation as part of UNAMID transition from Darfur (North, South, West and East). UNFPA has been selected to carry out some of the capacity building trainings on the Human Rights and Rule of Law including the following trainings proposed to be facilitated by the national consultant;

  • Application of Human Rights standards in investigation and prosecution of SGBV/CRSV
  • Human Rights sensitization for Law enforcement agencies (Regular Police, Family and Child Protection Unit (FCPU), police and Prosecutors) on Gender Base Violence (GBV) and the relating laws, on proper documentation of sexual and gender base violence (SGBV) and GBV cases.
  • Training and sensitization for Law enforcement, judiciary, paralegal and gender desk officers on accountability and justice delivery for victims and survivors of CRV/SGBV.
  • Training of Gender Desk Officers on proper management and operation of the Gender desks.
  • Sensitization of humanitarian actors from line ministries, civil society, INGOs and HAC on GBV prevention and response including referral and protection mechanism.
  • Community dialogues with SPF Gender Desks to create confidence within the communities on gender desks as well as creating awareness on laws about GBV.

 

Deliverables:

  • To prepare training concept note and action plan.
  • Prepare trainings materials and hand-out for participants.
  • To deliver the planned trainings on rule of law and human rights related topics targeting each SLF targeted states.
  • To help participants to gain an awareness on RoL and HR and how to utilize tool and methods for RoL.
  • Submission of the training reports with recommendations and follow up points.
  • Follow-up meetings and visits to the beneficiaries of SLF trainings and awareness session to assess the implementation.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education:

Master degree in law / Human Rights or any other related field

Experience:

 

 

 

 

2 years of experiences in working on ROL and Human Rights field

  • Significant experiences in developing/adapting training materials and competency language requirements: to deliver the trainings on ROL and Human Rights
  • Strong knowledge on ROL and Human Rights standard and national laws and procedures related to the topics
  • Documentation and reporting skills in English

Languages:

Fluency both written and oral, in English and Arabic.
