Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) translates to Doctors without Borders. We provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. Our teams are made up of tens of thousands of health professionals, logistic and administrative staff - bound together by our charter. Duties and responsibilities: Accountabilities
• Supervising, supporting and evaluating the team under his/her responsibility particularly midwives, community midwife, midwife assistants and other related staff in her team. Planning and organizing their work (areas, days, absences, visits, holidays, etc) and coaching them in their work with special focus in following all appropriate protocols and procedures • Ensuring team work and a professional relationship between maternity and other departments. • Supervising the clinical activities in all the maternity departments and activities such as antenatal consultations, delivery and after delivery follow up, postnatal consultations, family planning consultations, newborn vaccina- tions and liaising with the Medical Doctor about the patients who need special care times, visiting hours, etc. • Ensuring that the staff on duty knows, implements and follows at all times the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, biohazard prevention and infection control in the medical premises ensuring high standards of hygiene in the working environment • Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained, cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols, reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service. • Being responsible for the department related pharmacy activities (stock and consumption monitoring) as well as maintenance of the medical equipment • Being responsible for ensuring that all the administrative procedures, patients’ data, documents, maternity reg- isters are filled in correctly and registered for compiling monthly reports reflecting the activity in the department. • Responsible for ensuring that the maternity staff is able to identify, receive and provide care to the victims of the SGBV in collaboration with the MD and following the protocols • To ensure and monitor proper referral of patients to a higher facility (every referral case to be accompanied by a midwife or nurse give proper handover)
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
· · Work hand in hand with BTH matron on midwives and nurses maternity rosters · · Be flexible to work and cover night duty · · Monitor the gaps in the midwives clinical skills and come up with capacity building plans · · Support the data team in ensuring that all data collecting points (patient files, registers, forms) are well fille by the staff and that data is in line with MSF project indicators Ensure good collaboration with BTH management in the promotion on quality care in mater- nity |

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: Education · Diploma of Midwife (or any Diploma recognized in the country and /or the Ministry of Health to practice as such) Experience · Minimum 2 years experience as Midwife · Essential: good spoken and written English. |
