The Health and Nutrition Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring, and quality assurance of integrated Primary Health Care (PHC), Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), and Nutrition interventions. The officer will ensure the effective delivery of life-saving health and nutrition services through health facilities, mobile medical teams, and community-based approaches, with a particular focus on children under five, pregnant and lactating women, and other vulnerable groups.

Health Program Implementation 

• Support the delivery of integrated PHC and SRH services through Primary Health Care Centres (PHCCs) and Mobile Medical Teams (MMTs). 
• Monitor outpatient consultations, antenatal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC), and other essential health services.
• Conduct regular supervision visits to health facilities to ensure compliance with national and international standards.
• Support the implementation of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist in planning and implementation of health facility rehabilitation and WASH improvement activities. 
• Support referral systems for emergency and specialized health services. 

Nutrition Program Implementation 

• Support implementation of Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) services including OTP and TSFP. 
• Ensure timely identification, screening, referral, and treatment of children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM). 
• Monitor nutrition program performance indicators including recovery, default, and mortality rates. 
• Support routine screening of children under five and pregnant and lactating women for malnutrition. 
• Ensure adherence to national CMAM and IYCF guidelines and protocols

Capacity Building and Training 

• Organize and facilitate training of health workers on IMCI, SRH, IPC, BEmONC, and other relevant health topics.
• Support training and mentoring of healthcare workers on CMAM protocols and nutrition quality standards. 
• Conduct supportive supervision and on-the-job coaching for facility staff, community health workers, and community midwives. 
• Participate in knowledge assessments and monitor staff performance improvements following training.

Community-Based Health and Nutrition Activities 

• Support community outreach activities aimed at improving health-seeking behavior and service utilization. 
• Coordinate nutrition screening campaigns and referral of identified cases. 
• Support establishment and follow-up of Mother-to-Mother Support Groups (MtMSGs). 
• Train and support Community Health Workers (CHWs) in delivering Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) and nutrition messages. 
• Organize nutrition awareness sessions and cooking demonstrations for caregivers. 

Supply Chain and Pharmacy Support 

• Monitor availability of essential medicines, nutrition commodities, and medical supplies at facility level. 
• Support stock monitoring, consumption tracking, and reporting to minimize stock-outs. 
• Assist with supervision of pharmacy and store management practices. 
• Ensure proper storage and handling of health and nutrition supplies according to established guidelines.
• Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Reporting 
• Collect, verify, analyze, and report health and nutrition data from facilities and mobile teams. 
• Maintain accurate program records, registers, and monthly reports. 
• Track project indicators and support routine monitoring visits. 
• Participate in assessments, surveys, supervision visits, and evaluations. 
• Ensure accountability mechanisms are functional, and beneficiary feedback is appropriately addressed. 

Coordination 

• Coordinate closely with health facility staff, nutrition teams, community workers, and local health authorities.
• Participate in technical meetings, coordination forums, and project review meetings. 
• Maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders, partners, and community leaders.

• Bachelor’s degree in medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Nutrition, Health Sciences, or a related field. 
• Additional training in CMAM, IMCI, SRH, IYCF, or emergency health programming is an asset
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience implementing health and/or nutrition programs. 
• Experience with CMAM, OTP, TSFP, PHC, and emergency health responses. 
• Experience working with NGOs and humanitarian programs is desirable. 
• Experience supervising health facility and community-based activities. 
• Necessary skills: -Strong knowledge of PHC, CMAM, IYCF, SRH, and maternal and child health. 
• Excellent monitoring, reporting, and data management skills. 
• Strong facilitation, coaching, and training skills. -Ability to work under pressure in emergency settings. 
• Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills. 
• Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and health information systems. 
• ENGLISH: Very Good in report writing and fluent in spoken 
• Good computer skill (Microsoft office: Word, Excel and Power point) 
• Arabic: Excellent written and spoken

• Based in: South Kordofan State - Kadugli with required travel to field areas
