 Duties and responsibilities:

Purpose of the Position

The Communication & Brand Coordinator leads the development and implementation of the organization's communication, branding, media, and visibility strategy. The position is responsible for promoting the organization's image, documenting programme impact, ensuring compliance with SOS brand standards and donor visibility requirements, strengthening internal and external communication, and supporting fundraising and advocacy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Communication Strategy

  • Develop and implement the National Communication and Brand Strategy aligned with the organizational strategic plan.
  • Prepare annual communication and visibility plans.
  • Coordinate communication activities across all programme locations.
  • Ensure communication supports programme, advocacy, fundraising, and organizational objectives.

2. Brand Management

  • Ensure consistent application of the SOS Children's Villages brand guidelines.
  • Review and approve communication and visibility materials before publication.
  • Protect and strengthen the organization's corporate identity and reputation.
  • Provide technical guidance to staff and partners on branding requirements.

3. Content Development

  • Produce high-quality communication materials including:
    • Success stories
    • Human interest stories
    • Case studies
    • Press releases
    • Newsletters
    • Annual reports
    • Fact sheets
    • Brochures
    • Web content
    • Social media content
  • Coordinate photography and videography assignments.
  • Ensure all communication materials meet safeguarding and ethical standards.

4. Digital Communication

  • Manage the organization's digital communication platforms.
  • Develop and implement social media content calendars.
  • Increase digital engagement and audience reach.
  • Monitor website and social media performance.
  • Produce multimedia communication products.

5. Media Relations

  • Develop and maintain relationships with national and international media.
  • Coordinate media interviews and press events.
  • Prepare media briefings and key messages.
  • Monitor media coverage and respond to communication risks.

6. Programme Visibility

  • Ensure donor visibility requirements are incorporated into programme implementation.
  • Support programme teams in documenting project achievements.
  • Coordinate visibility materials for donor-funded projects.
  • Monitor compliance with donor communication and branding requirements.

7. Resource Mobilization Support

  • Develop communication products that support fundraising initiatives.
  • Prepare donor profiles, organizational profiles, and capability statements.
  • Contribute communication inputs to funding proposals.
  • Produce promotional materials for donor engagement events.

8. Advocacy & External Relations

  • Support advocacy campaigns and public awareness initiatives.
  • Develop communication messages aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Promote the organization's work with government, donors, UN agencies, NGOs, and communities.
  • Coordinate communication activities during national and international events.

9. Internal Communication

  • Strengthen communication across the National Office and field operations.
  • Produce internal newsletters and staff updates.
  • Support organizational change communication.
  • Promote staff engagement through effective internal communication channels.

10. Team Coordination

  • Provide technical support to programme staff on communication.
  • Coordinate consultants, photographers, videographers, and designers.

Build staff capacity on branding and communication standards


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Master's degree is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, media, public relations, or branding.
  • Experience working with humanitarian or development organizations is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality communication materials.
  • Experience managing digital communication platforms and social media.
  • Experience supporting donor-funded programmes and visibility requirements.
  • Photography, videography, and graphic design experience is an asset.
