 Duties and responsibilities:

Job Summary

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is responding to the humanitarian crisis in North Darfur and East Darfur, where large scale displacement has resulted in severe food insecurity, critical water shortages, and acute health and nutrition needs amid access constraints and a complex operating environment. CRS is implementing and scaling lifesaving interventions in food security, water, health, and nutrition, including cash based and in-kind assistance and support to Emergency Response Rooms (ERRs). CRS also actively engages in humanitarian coordination to improve coverage, targeting, and accountability.

 

You will manage, coordinate, and monitor project activities and relationships with partners and other project stakeholders to assist the achievement of the RAPID project objectives advancing Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your project management skills and knowledge of the program area will ensure that the CP delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the impact of this project.

 

Roles and Key Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and implementation of all food assistance activities, including cash and in-kind food distribution, as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Monitor and report on any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. Assist partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
  • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and assisting partners in their efforts to collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with local partner(s) and service providers to prepare reports per established reporting schedule. 
  • Collect information on staff capacity needs and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and monitor capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.
  • Complete project documentation for food assistance activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree relevant to the area 
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in project support.  Fresh graduates may be considered for the role.
  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
  • Experience in the field of food assistance, including cash and/or in-kind food distributions and for an NGO would be a plus.
  • Experience supporting DOS projects is preferred.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Proficient in using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Observation, active listening and analysis skills with ability to make sound judgment
  • Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members
  • Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities
  • Proactive, results-oriented and service-oriented

 

Required Languages: Arabic is required and local language skills are advantage. English would be a plus. 

 

 

Travel: Must be willing and able to travel up to 70 % to project locations in Darfur.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: No.
