 Duties and responsibilities:

Dimensions of Role:

The case management assistant will oversee the case management activities in designated locations of Khartoum specifically, ensure children harmed or at risk of being harmed are identified and receive individual case management support by ensuring the use of the standardized case management tool, provide training and technical support to the case workers in consultations with CPiE Officer 

 

Typical Responsibilities - Key End Results of Position:

  • To supervise the case workers at designated field visits
  • Supervise and support the case workers in family visits if necessary

 

Key Deliverables

 

  • Ensure that case workers respect confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines
  • Ensure that files and case registers are in appropriate and correct manner and ensure case workers carry out proper documentation and data protection protocol
  • Review the follow up of cases and ensure all cases are managed with acceptance timelines
  • Work with the child protection team to ensure close links between case management and our work with community based child protection networks and in CFSs
  • Ensure internal referral mechanism (with other sectors) are in place and cases are appropriately managed and followed up when referred.
  • Ensure constant and transparent communication and collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including community member’s community leaders and families.
  • Share information on field level successes and challenges with the child protection officer, ensure that challenges are flagged early, and addressed in an appropriate way
  • Support the child protection officer in the ongoing capacity of case workers
  • Submit regular case management reports and ensure that information is kept up to date
  • Coordinate with other agencies offerings case management services to children on referral and transferred cases
  • Provide support to family tracing and reunification activities
  • Link case workers with service providers to ensure referrals to other services such as psychosocial support and education/livelihoods intervention
  • Support in the establishment/strengthening of foster care givers
  • Training of foster givers on foster care skills
  • Ensure safeguarding policy and COC of Plan International is adhered to by the staffs and associates known to the beneficiaries and that all safeguarding concerns

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Knowledge, Skills, Behaviors, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives: 

Gained through education, training, & experience

 

 

Knowledge 

  • Minimum University degree or College Diploma in community Development/Social Work/ Psychology or related work
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working or implementing child friendly spaces, case management or psychosocial programming in the humanitarian field
  • Knowledge of Child Protection and prior experience implementing a Child protection programme.
  • Ability to work individually and within a team with limited supervision. A self-starter.
  • Good analytical, problem solving and project planning skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and strategically with internal and external stakeholders as a representative of Plan. This includes effective negotiation and representation skills.
  • Strong capacity building/training/coaching/mentoring skills with communities and internal and external staff
  • Computer knowledge - Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong command of both written and spoken English and knowledge of local language strongly desired

Physical Environment and Demands:

  • Typical office & outdoors - Some exposure to heat, cold, dirt, noise and rainy weather conditions; dim or crowded surroundings, confined spaces
  • Willing to working in multiple locations in South Sudan and operate in difficult terrain with close adherence to security regulations and protocol as the environment is ever changing and security management is an important responsibility of the post.
