 Background:

DanChurchAid is an international non-governmental organization committed to saving lives, building resilient communities, and fighting inequality. DCA has supported Sudanese partners for more than 20 years, responding to conflicts, displacement, and natural disasters. Following the April 2023 conflict, DCA is addressing urgent humanitarian needs across Gedaref, Sennar, Al Gezirah, White Nile, and the Kordofans, helping to save lives, build resilience, and fight inequality. DCA´s work prioritises localisation and community-led action through:

  • Humanitarian response, including group cash transfers and SCLR programming
  • Protection, gender equality, and conflict prevention
  • Early recovery and livelihoods support

As part of the ongoing support provided to our local partners, DCA is seeking a Sudanese consultant to support with some key capacity strengthening around GBV. 

 

Objective of the Assignment

The main objective of this consultancy is to provide capacity strengthening in terms of GBV prevention and response to DCA´s local partners through training and supportive supervision.

 

Specific Objectives

Under the supervision of DCA’s Global Protection Advisor, the consultant will:

  • Review, adapt, and translate from English to Arabic, if needed, the standard Inter-Agency training materials on GBV Case ManagementWomen and Girl Safe SpacesIntegrated Supportive Supervision Model,including a module on EQUIP and the Women Rise curriculum
  • Deliver a 5-day in-person training on GBV Case Management, a 2-day in-person training on Supportive Supervision, a 3-day in-person training on Women and Girls Safe Spaces, and a 5-day in-person training on the Women Rise curriculum. All the training sessions will be taking place in Arabic, and include 15-20 participants. 
  • Write a training report for each training conducted, to include outcomes from pre- and post-test or competency-based pre-post assessments, evaluation surveys, and key recommendations to be followed up on in and outside the ongoing supervision. 
  • Provide two 2-hour supervision sessions for the supervisors each month from August to December 2026. Competency-based and knowledge-based tools should be used during supervision. Supervision may be in person or online, but in-person is preferred. 
  • Provide one 2-hour supervision session for case workers each month from August to December 2026. Supervision may be in person or online, but in-person is preferred.
  • Write a brief supervision report after each supervision session, respecting confidentiality. Report on the outcomes of any competency or knowledge-based tools used. 
  • Write a final consultancy report with recommendations and lessons learnt.


 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Scope of Work

The expected engagement for this assignment is 1 working day for initial consultations, 5 working days for training preparation, 15 working days for training, 6 working days for supervision, and 3 working days for report writing and final consultations, for a total of 30 working days between July and December 2026. A working day counts as 8 hours.

Duration and Location

  • Duration: 30 working days approximately, from July to December 2026. The consultant should be available from the 1st of July. 
  • Location: Port Sudan, Sudan. Training should take place in person. The consultant should have permission to be and travel in Sudan. 
  • Supervision: The consultant will report to the DCA Global Protection Advisor and coordinate closely with Programme Team and the Country Office.

 

Deliverables Format

  • The training packages must include PowerPoint presentations, handouts if any, pre and post-tests and other training tools used. 
  • The training reports should be between 3-10 pages and include the number of participants, the contents of the training, achievements and challenges, recommendations, and lessons learned for future training, the outcomes of the pre and post-assessments, the outcomes of the evaluation surveys, and the training materials, raw pre-post assessments and evaluation surveys data, and the attendance sheets in the annexes. 
  • The supervision reports should be between 2-4 pages and include the number of participants, the key topics discussed, key achievements and challenges, and outcomes of any competency or knowledge tools assigned. The consultant might also be called to use the EQUIP platform with any data collected. 
  • The final consultancy report should be between 10-20 pages and include

-Overview of the consultancy

-Overview of the consultancy achievements, including progress in knowledge or competency-based tools

-Recommendations for future actions

-Conclusion

-Annexes

 

All deliverables must be submitted in English, in both editable (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and PDF formats, with the exception of the training packages that should be delivered in both English and Arabic, also in editable formats and PDF.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Human Rights, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in GBV programming at different levels. 
  • Proven experience with all the aforementioned training, either as a participant to a ToT or a lead trainer or co-trainer. 
  • Proven track record of providing training and supportive supervision to GBV teams. 
  • A Sudanese national who can travel or is based in Port Sudan. 
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic required

 

Ethical Considerations

The consultant must ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with GBV guiding principles and Inter-Agency Case Management Guidelines, and in line with Interagency Standards.

  • An updated CV highlighting relevant Protection and GBV programming experience and previous similar assignments.
