 Background:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Doctor who will provide comprehensive staff health services, ensuring high-quality clinical care, medical guidance, and health support for national and international staff in accordance with MSF medical standards, staff health policies, and ethical principles to promote staff well-being and operational continuity.
As the Medical Doctor – Intersectional Staff Health, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the health and well-being of MSF staff and their dependents across multiple operational sections. With a strong focus on clinical care, staff health management, medical referrals, emergency support, vaccination follow-up, and health promotion—guided by MSF medical protocols and staff health policies—you will ensure timely, confidential, and high-quality healthcare services while supporting a healthy and resilient workforce



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols. 
  • Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood. 
  • Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution. 
  • Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care of the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards. 
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients illness, medical error and monitoring the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material. 
  • Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care. 
  • Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected. 
  • Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to MSF HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations, directly participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary

 MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

  • The position is intersectional: OCA, OCB, OCP, OCG, OCBA and based in Port Sudan.
  • As intersectional position needs to collaborate with 5 Medical Coordinators (1 per section) and 5 medical Coordinator Support (1 per section). 
  • The position will be responsible of Staff Health in Port Sudan according to the Staff Health Policy of each Sections for LHS + dependents and IMS. 
  • Provide good quality health care to the staff and their dependent, including testing and medications according to the Staff Health Policy of each OC.
  • Issue referral letters for the cases required advanced health care.
  • To guide the staff during the emergencies, coordinate with the validated hospital.
  • To guide and support LHS (+dependents) and IMS if non urgent medical consultation is needed
  • Follow up staff hospital admission.
  • Assessments and routine re-assessments of the health facilities for the staff and renewing agreements (if applicable).
  • Review the invoices and follow the reimbursement validation process of each OCs .
  • Provide Medical Briefing the new hired staff of Port Sudan, and the new arrivals to the project regarding staff health policy.
  • Sick leave issuing and documentation (Medical Report for Sick leave more than 3 days), validation from Medical Coordinator if needed.
  • Follow up vaccination of the staff in Port Sudan.
  • PEP focal person. 
  • Well understanding of MSF psychosocial support and referral pathway.
  • With the pharmacy team to fill the emergency boxes and follow up the consumption regularly.
  • Public Health: Provide regular updates to the staff regarding ongoing outbreak (preventive measures).
  • Close collaboration and info sharing with Medical Coordinator Support, as FP mission level of staff health.
  • Provide monthly report to each Medical Coordinator and Medical Coordinator Support.
  • Medical Evacuation: FP at Part Sudan level and excellent knowledge of Medevac policy and pathway.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Essential Medical Doctor bachelor’s degree, Desirable diploma in Tropical Medicine.
  • Minimum 2-year experience as a Medical Doctor with Medical INGO’s. MSF Experience is an Asset.
  • Desirable experience in tropical medicine, or in Public Health, obs and gynae, pediatrics, infectious diseases, TB, etc... general practice, general medicine or minor surgery.
  • Mandatory valid permanent medical practice registration license from Sudanese medical board.
  • Minimum B1 Proficiency level in English and native or near-native proficiency in Arabic.
  • Computer literacy (word, excel and internet, Share Point).
