 Background:

We are seeking a responsible and safety-oriented driver who will provide secure and efficient transportation of staff, passengers, and goods while ensuring vehicle readiness and compliance with MSF safety and security procedures. The role is essential to supporting uninterrupted project activities and maintaining safe movements across the mission.
As a Driver, you will play a key role in facilitating safe and reliable transportation services for MSF operations. With a strong focus on road safety, vehicle maintenance checks, movement monitoring, and adherence to MSF security protocols, you will help ensure the smooth movement of personnel and supplies while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and operational support



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), performing Daily and weekly check according to the MSF Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions. Carrying out a handover if another uses the vehicle
  • Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as MSF security rules, in order to avoid car accidents.
  •  Ensuring all passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling, and ensuring non-MSF staff sign disclaimers of responsibility before using the vehicle
  • Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting the documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to Logistics and ensuring that the goods have the necessary documents.
  • Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver's driving license are valid and in the vehicle.
  • Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods.
  • Knowing how to use all types of radios, codes, call numbers and radio alphabets by heart and communicating with base according to MSF communications policy to inform the driver's position and any potential implications.
  • Knowing and respecting the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, checkpoints and roadblocks. Ensuring all Passenger know and respect the security rules.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

  • Drive MSF-OCBA vehicle in the most appropriate way. 
  • Timely refueling of MSF-OCBA vehicle and maintaining clear and clean record in logbook.
  • Execute daily and weekly checklist and report any abnormalities immediately to his/her supervisor and update the checklist documents.
  • Report any issues with the car to his/her supervisor at any time.
  • Ensure that the vehicle assigned is equipped with fire extinguisher, spare tire, security food and water, recovery tools, discharge of liability document, updated service logbook, updated fuel logbook, updated movement log sheet, handover document, daily and weekly checklist updated).
  • Fill the handover sheet at the end of every shift or trip.
  • Register every movement in the movement log sheet.
  • Report every movement through agreed reporting channel (WhatsApp group, phone call...etc.)
  • Ensure all passengers have fasten their seats belts before starting the movement.
  • Ensure that all checks have been done before starting any movement (reporting, login movement in the movement book, filling discharge of liabilities if necessary…etc.).
  • Respect speed limits and adapt to roads conditions for safety of the passengers, other road users and to keep the vehicle in sound mechanical conditions.
  • Take care of the vehicle during trips, when parked during waiting time and inform others in case of any need to go somewhere else and leave the vehicle. 
  • Ensure MSF-OCBA movement protocols are observed and respected (like no transportation of military personnels, no stopping or parking MS-OCBA vehicle close to military post, police, GIS, MI or any other military or governmental site, stop at check point and lower window glasses etc.).
  • Keep the vehicle clean all the time and clean during shift as agreed with the supervisor (before, after or during night shifts).
  • Never use or operate mobile phone or any kind of ICT equipment or car radio while driving, and if he/she receives insisting calls (3 calls in a row) ask the movement team leader to answer or ask his permission to talk. In this case he/she must pull the vehicle to the side, stop and talk.
  • Abide by general HR rules and regulations (like no consumption of alcohol or any other illegal substance, no smoke inside the car or allowing passengers).

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Essential Secondary high school degree
  • Mandatory valid general driving license.
  • Essential minimum 4 years driving experience with Toyota 4X4 vehicles.
  • Desirable certified auto mechanical and electrical vocational training.
  • Desirable Minimum 2 Years of professional driving and mechanical experience, with INGO’s
  • Essential B1 English Language Proficiency and native Arabic.
  • Knowledge of safety checks and fleet documentation.
