Background: Description of the Program
GOAL has responded to a wide range of humanitarian and development needs in Sudan since 1985. We support conflict-affected populations through integrated programmes in nutrition, health, WASH and food security and livelihoods (FSL), with women’s empowerment and protection mainstreamed throughout our work. GOAL responds to protracted humanitarian needs in Sudan, while planning for and investing in communities’ longer-term development. GOAL is currently present in North Darfur and South Kordofan with potential expansion in White Nile States. In ND GOAL is the only NGOs providing H&N services in Kutum. Overall, our presence is essential to keep functional health and nutrition services in highly vulnerable areas after 2 years of war and to ensure increased food security and access to livelihoods opportunities for communities affected by the war in IPC 4 and 5 areas. GOAL is currently seeking a coordinator to lead the grants coordination and management as well as the partnership and localization agenda in Sudan.
