 Background:

Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is a German non-profit, non-partisan, and non-denominational Organization, working in about 38 countries around the world and has been working in Sudan since 1998 WHH sectoral focus is humanitarian assistance, Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security (SFNS) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Aim Of Position

The Field Officer Economic Inclusion will support the Livelihoods and Economic Inclusion activities and works towards the following objectives:
1. Improve the enabling environment for refugees to work through advocacy on the right to/at work, access to economic opportunities and service;
2. Seek new and strengthen existing partnerships including with the private sector, development actors, government institutions and specialized agencies to advance economic inclusion of refugees; and
3. Enhance ongoing livelihoods and economic inclusion programming through evidence-based and market-driven approaches to improve economic inclusion outcomes.
Duties

  • Maintain close contact and cooperation with partners to facilitate the economic inclusion of refugees, such as line ministries, private sector and development and supporting services (business development, micro-finance, training, saving accounts, poverty alleviation and social protection, etc.).
  • Work with the multi-functional team, more specifically with the Protection Unit, to assess the legal framework for the right to work and rights at work and recommend/implement advocacy initiatives and policy.

     
  • Build on WHH databases to support regular information sharing and coordination among different humanitarian, developmental and governmental stakeholders. This includes supporting the implementation of socioeconomic and wealth ranking surveys utilizing community-based strategies to inform targeting, monitoring and facilitation of development programmes.
    Conduct necessary assessments in collaboration with relevant private and public stakeholders, including impact assessments on local economies and surveys that help to identify investment and funding opportunities 
  •  In case WHH is implementing specific livelihoods activities, strengthen, guide and monitor the livelihoods interventions to help ensure they are market-based
  • Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility. 
  • Perform other related duties as required.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team members are expected to support and assist each other’s, as well as replacing each other during leave periods.
  • Keep records (both hard and soft copies) of project activity documents and project plans.
  • Representing the organization and project in meetings if it becomes necessary.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of other project activities throughout the project duration.
  • Provide feedback on constraints encountered during project(s) implementation and make recommendations and/or suggestions. 
  • Keep Welthungerhilfe internal information as confidential.
  • Any other additional responsibility, in coordination and agreement with Area Manager, if it becomes necessary during the duration of the project.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education:  university degree in Rural Development, Socio-Economic Development or another related field.
Experience: 1-2 years’ experience in similar position in INGOs and NGOs.

Excellent MS Office skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access) is mandatory.

Excellent English language skills (reading, writing, speaking) is mandatory

Arab language skills (reading, writing, speaking).
