MSF-Swiss is seeking to employ 1 (one) qualified candidate in the Umrakuba Project for the position of Nurse Team Supervisor.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Main Purpose of the position:

Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning nursing and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse or anesthetist, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience. 
  • Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
  • Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
  • Carry out and/or supervise the ( decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.)in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring  that all staff  using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
  • Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.
  • Give feedback/ reports to medical focal point.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:

  • Ensure technical and operational supervision of nursing activities across 3 PHCCs providing integrated primary healthcare services, including Paediatric OPD, MNCH (ANC/PNC/FP), wound care,EPI, laboratory RDTs, dispensary, and nutrition services (SAM, MAM, PLWs).
  • Supervise implementation of integrated PHC package, ensuring continuity of care between curative, preventive, and community-based activities.
  • Ensure proper triage, patient flow, and referral pathways from PHCCs to umrakuba hospital, with emphasis on paediatric emergencies, obstetric cases, and severe acute malnutrition cases with complications.
  • Oversee clinical quality of care for MNCH services (ANC, PNC, family planning), ensuring adherence to MSF protocols and safe clinical practices.
  • Supervise management of acute malnutrition (SAM/MAM) programs, ensuring correct admission, follow-up, medical management, and linkage with community-based nutrition activities.
  • Ensure safe and rational use of medicines through supervision of dispensary activities, stock management, and adherence to MSF pharmacy protocols, in coordination with pharmacy teams.
  • Monitor quality and availability of essential laboratory RDT services, ensuring proper use of test kits, infection prevention, and reporting of results.
  • Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) standards across all PHCC service points, including wound care, maternity services, and outpatient areas.
  • Supervise and support nursing staff in wound care management, ensuring correct dressing techniques, follow-up, and referral of complicated cases.
  • Strengthen integration of health promotion and community engagement activities with facility-based services, ensuring alignment of key messages with epidemiological priorities (nutrition, MNCH, disease prevention).
  • Collaborate with community health teams to improve early case detection, referral, defaulter tracing, and treatment adherence, particularly for malnutrition and MNCH cases.
  • Ensure proper functioning of patient data collection systems, including registers, tally sheets, and reporting tools across all service areas, ensuring data quality and timeliness.
  • Support clinical staff through on-the-job coaching, mentoring, and supervision, with focus on quality improvement and adherence to MSF protocols.
  • Monitor workload distribution and service capacity across the 3 PHCCs and propose operational adjustments to maintain continuity of care and service coverage.
  • Timely submission of weekly and monthly data to data team and PMR for monthly Sitrep.
  • Any other task assigned by line manager.

 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Requirements

Education: 

  • Speciality (nurse or anesthetist) diploma essential

Experience: 

  • Essential 2 years of previous experience. 
  • Having worked in MSF or other NGO’s and in developing countries is desirable  

Language: 

  • Essential: Arabic and English (written and oral)

Knowledge:

  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
