Background: We are seeking a motivated professional who will Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions.

Duties and responsibilities:
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols.
- Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
- Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
- Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection, and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
- Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problems.
- Alerting MAM of any complication of the patient’s illness or medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment and materials.
- Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
- Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.
- This position will support Rapid Response Teams (RRT) in White Nile state.
- Support in epidemic-prone disease preparedness: training, alerts of medical stock ruptures/low stock, set up of ORPs and possible CTUs in different PHCCs.
- Active role in assesmements and detecting needs and gaps.
- Active role in surveillance of alerts in collaboration with Rapid Response Team, MAM and EPI team: diseases with outbreak potential, displacement of population and mass casualty.
- Alerts received are tracked, triaged, and a joint MSF-MoH team conducts immediate clinical assessment to verify the alert and assess the risk level based on the disease, number of cases, and location.
- When alerts are verified, the appropriate team composition is activated, including epidemiological investigation (conduct active case finding in the community, and map transmission).
- Perform clinical management and confirm the diagnosis through RDT at the field level. Support laboratory confirmation (collect and transport appropriate samples to the designated reference laboratory) as required.
- Ensure effective infection prevention & control (IPC) and WASH measures in place for the affected households/neighburhood/surrounding areas (including assessment of hygiene and WASH conditions, distribution of materials, household education)
- Actively engage community leaders and residents, conduct disease-specific health promotion and dispel rumors. Mobilize the community for control activities.
- Conduct preventive vaccination at every available opportunity.
- Perform comprehensive data analysis and reporting, including mapping of alerts/emergency response analyses, epicurve/trends and completes the outbreak report for the MoH.
- Conduct a team debrief to identify challenges and successes, ensuring feedback is provided to the to the alert source
- Medical stock management, including consumption monitoring, replenishing the RRT kits and preparing for the next alert.
- Implementation and monitoring of the MSF National Staff Health Policy among the LHS. Serve as the focal point for all staff health issues, if needed.
- Essential good communication skills and capacity building of MoH teams primarily on cholera, diphtheria, whooping cough, meningitis, malaria and measles outbreaks.
- Flexibility to work with “mobile teams” in White Nile state.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
- Medical doctor Diploma essential. Diploma in Tropical Medicine desirable.
- Essential: Registration in the Sudanese Medical Council.
- 2 years minimum experience as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work after the medical training.
- Essential 6 months experience under contract with medical INGO's.
- Assets: experience in epidemic-prone disease response and preparedness. Experience in medical assessments.
- Essential computer literacy (Microsoft 365 environment and tools).
- Minimum B1 Proficiency level in English and native or near-native proficiency in Arabic.
