 Background:

Supervision of the daily activities of the case management interventions (including individual case management and collective PSS) with a focus on survivors of gender-based violence



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Programme

  • With support of Protection Team leader and Proteciton manager, design and deliver specific GBV prevention interventions 
  • Ensure the delivery of case management by Protection Assistants is in line with global/DRC SOPs and standards, including the interagency GBV case management guidelines. 
  • Effectively use and comply with all the tools, forms and SOPs related to case management as communicated by the Protection manager. Comply with applicable professional standards related to protection and humanitarian interventions. 
  • Operate in close alignment with referral pathways agreed at interagency level.
  • Coordinate closely with service providers to ensure survivors and individuals at risk of right violations are provided with high quality service provision (including medical assistance, mental health support and material assistance)
  • Ensure proper documentation of case data and information in line with the case management guiding principles, adhering to the confidentiality principle. Ensure to abide by all information-sharing protocols in place. 
  • Ensure that individuals in need of protection services and/or assistance are timely and adequately referred to the relevant services. Conduct regular and systematized follow-up of all referred cases to ensure adequate service provision, reassess needs and potentially identify any new trends.
  • Provide support and technical guidance to the Protection Assistants in the implementation of collective PSS activities with vulnerable communities’ members in safe and suitable locations and according to DRC guidelines.
  • Provide support and technical guidance to the Protection Assistants in the implementation of Individual Protection Assistance (IPA) activities, including the provision of cash or in-kind assistance to most vulnerable communities’ members in safe and suitable manner, strictly adhering DRC SOPs/Protocols for IPA.
  • Conduct any other programme activities related to the provision of protection services and assistance as instructed by the Protection Specialist and the Area Manager. 
  • Mobilize and build strong rapport with communities, adhering to dignified, culturally sensitive approaches. 
  • Run weekly case review meetings with the Case Management Assistants to ensure adherence to standards of care and quality case management
  • Create plan for Case Management team to complete the targets and any related budget spend within the program period. Follow up with Case Management Assistants to ensure work is completed on time and in line with the target and budget plan. 
  • Answer Case Management Assistant’s technical case management questions or relay technical questions to the Protection team leader and Protection manager. 
  • Working closely with the implementation partner to ensure alignment on project goals and strategies.
  • Providing necessary resources and support to the implementation partner to facilitate their role.
  • Maintaining open and effective communication throughout the project to address any issues or concerns.
  • Regularly checking in with the implementation partner to monitor progress and ensure the project stays on track.
  • Act as Case Management Team Focal point. 

 

Monitoring and Reporting

-    Produce quality and acurate reports and supporting documentation on CM activities and ensure their timely submission to the Protection Team for review and internal information sharing. To this end, oversee that both the hard and soft copies of all activity reports and case management files are safely archived by the CM assistants. Overall, effectively use the tools and comply with the processes related to monitoring and reporting, including through the use of shared drive and dedicated platforms for information management. 

-    Accurately update the protection case management database ensuing adherence to data protection protocols as well as ensure accuracy of the database

-    Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential case files to document client interactions and interventions using DRC tools, ensuring adherence to data protection protocols. Follow up with Case Management assistants to ensure all paperwork is properly filed in adherence with data protection and DRC protocols. 

-   Participate in weekly and monthly work planning as directed by Team Leader and Protection Manager. 

-   Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on issues in the implementation of the program

-   Lead the assistance in data analysis of case management data in a safe and ethical manner.

 

Representation and coordination

-    Collaborate with other DRC sectors and NGOs to ensure a coordinated and collaborative response to the provision of services and assistance for those benefiting from case management

-   Maintain effective working relationship with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders and service providers

-   Advocate for the needs of vulnerable and at-risk individuals both internally and through coordination mechanisms through evidence-based advocacy

-  Lead continuous updating of referral pathways and service mapping and follow up with Assistants regarding coordination with new actors. 

 

Operations support

-  Support the coordination of programme support activities as they relate to logistics, administration or security as relevant, under the guidance and supervision of the Area Manager and in coordination with the relevant departments.  Comply with all relevant internal policies and directives.

 

Other

  •        Maintain positive work relationship within the team, and promote team-building efforts.
  •        Ensure respect of DRC Code of Conduct
  •        Participate in training and coaching as required on case management process, the relevant SOPs and the data filing and storing procedures. 
  •        Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Area Manager

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • 4+ years of experience in case management, including GBV case management
  • Good knowledge of case management principles 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, safety and inclusion of all cases at all times 
  • Excellent communication and psychosocial first aid skills
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility 
  • Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Ability to work flexible hours in challenging environments 
  • Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings is a plus

Education

Bachelor in Social work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field

 

Languages: 

Ability to communicate and write clearly in English and Arabic
