 Background:

The Health and Pharmacy Officer will support the implementation of MedGlobal’s Integrated Health and WASH Emergency Response in Northern Sudan and Khartoum by overseeing both clinical health activities and pharmaceutical supply chain management. This position ensures that MedGloba l- supported health facilities have continuous access to quality-assured medicines, medical supplies, and essential services in line with MoH, NMSF, and WHO standards. The incumbent will coordinate closely with program, logistics, and health cluster partners to ensure compliance, efficiency, and accountability in all medical and health operations.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Health Program Implementation

  •  Support the roll-out and supervision of health activities in target locations (fixed and mobile clinics).
  •  Provide technical assistance to health facility staff to ensure quality service delivery aligned with national treatment protocols and MedGlobal SoPs.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor clinical service delivery, data reporting, and community engagement.
  • Participate in Health and WASH Cluster coordination meetings and ensure MedGlobal’s interventions are harmonized with other partners and the MoH.
  • Contribute to outbreak preparedness and response planning, including disease surveillance and rapid response support.

2. Pharmaceutical and Supply Chain Management

  • Manage the end-to-end pharmaceutical supply chain—procurement requests, importation, storage, and distribution—according to MedGlobal and NMSF standards.
  • Coordinate with MoH and NMSF for pre-approval, customs clearance, and release of medical commodities.
  • Maintain updated stock records, track expiry dates, and ensure cold chain integrity where applicable.
  • Supervise and audit storage facilities to ensure compliance with Good Storage and Distribution Practices (GSDP).
  • Prepare monthly stock consumption and forecasting reports to prevent stockouts and overstocking.

3. Coordination and Compliance

  • Serve as the pharmacy and supply chain focal point for MedGlobal Sudan, liaising with MoH, WHO, and humanitarian partners.
  • Support health cluster coordination by providing technical input on medicine gaps, distribution updates, and partner collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with donor and government reporting requirements for pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
  • Participate in technical working groups and maintain documentation on supply chain audits, SoPs, and regulatory updates

4. Capacity Building

  • Train health facility staff and community health workers on rational drug use, inventory management, and safe disposal of expired items.
  • Contribute to the development of pharmacy management SoPs, job aids, and checklists for MedGlobal-supported facilities.

5. Reporting and Documentation

  •  Prepare and submit weekly and monthly health and pharmacy reports, including stock status, service utilization, and morbidity trends.
  •  Support donor reporting with accurate data on pharmaceutical management and health service delivery outcomes.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices for continuous improvement.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (required).

• Additional qualifications in Public Health, Supply Chain Management, or Health Systems (preferred).

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in health program implementation or pharmaceutical management within an INGO, UN, or MoH setting.

• Proven ability to coordinate with MoH/NMSF and understand national importation and quality assurance procedures.

• Field experience in emergency health or primary healthcare projects preferred.

• Strong understanding of WHO Essential Medicines List, rational use, and humanitarian logistics standards.

Skills and Competencies

• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Toolbox.

• Strong coordination and communication skills with diverse partners.

• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• High integrity, accountability, and commitment to humanitarian principles.

• Fluent in Arabic and English (spoken and written).
