Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) translates to Doctors without Borders. We provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. Our teams are made up of tens of thousands of health professionals, logistic and administrative staff - bound together by our charter. Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality. We are a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation.
MSF was founded in 1971 in Paris by a group of journalists and doctors. Today, we are a worldwide movement of nearly 65,000 people.
Background: The Project Coordinator (PC) delegates ad hoc some responsibilities to the Deputy Project Coordinator according to objective criteria taking into consideration sustainability in the treatment of the different dossiers. In general terms, the Deputy Project Coordinator will assist the PC in planning project’s objectives and priorities, by identifying the population’s health needs, analyzing the context, risks and constraints, and by calculating human and financial resources needed. He/she will contribute to the supervision, monitoring and follow-up together with the PC of all aspects of the projects in order to ensure its efficient and smooth functioning. He/she will replace the Project Coordinator in his/her absence. |

Duties and responsibilities:
Strategic Context Analysis and Humanitarian Positioning
Monitor and analyse political, humanitarian, socio-economic, and security developments to inform operational priorities and decision-making. Ensure adherence to MSF’s charter, principles, and policies in all interactions with staff, communities, authorities, and partners. Maintain constructive relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate acceptance, access, and operational relevance. 2. Project Planning, Implementation, and Performance Monitoring Support the planning, implementation, and supervision of project activities in line with MSF operational policies and strategic objectives. Monitor project performance through regular follow-up, ensuring quality, accountability, and timely adjustments to interventions. Contribute to reporting and data-driven decision-making to improve overall project impact. 3. Emergency Preparedness and Rapid Response Leadership Contribute to contingency planning and ensure preparedness measures (HR, logistics, medical stocks) are in place for rapid deployment. Lead or support emergency assessments and exploratory missions to identify needs, risks, and operational priorities. Facilitate rapid scale-up and adaptation of activities in response to outbreaks, population movements, or sudden crises. 4. Security and Risk Management Support the analysis of security risks and the regular update of security guidelines and context monitoring tools. Ensure teams are informed of security developments and that mitigation measures are effectively implemented. Contribute to safe operational planning in volatile and high-risk environments. 5. Team Management, Representation, and Stakeholder Coordination Support HR planning and day-to-day team management, including supervision, evaluations, and identification of training needs. Represent MSF at field level when delegated, ensuring clear communication and coordination with authorities and partners. Strengthen collaboration with stakeholders to enhance access, acceptance, and integrated humanitarian response. |
