 Background:

Responsible for ensuring the safety and rights of vulnerable populations, advocating for their needs, and providing essential support services.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Advocacy and Awareness: Work to ensure that authorities and other actors are aware of their obligations to protect individuals' rights. They advocate for adherence to humanitarian norms and international laws.
  • Direct Support Services: Provide direct assistance to individuals in need, which may include medical care, legal advice, and psychosocial support. This support is crucial for survivors of violence and those facing protection risks.
  • Needs Assessment: Conduct assessments to identify the needs of vulnerable populations, including refugees and displaced persons. They gather information to develop case plans and coordinate services with other providers.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor protection incidents and analyze risks within communities. This includes documenting cases of violence or abuse and reporting them to relevant authorities or organizations.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with communities to raise awareness about protection issues, facilitate access to services, and empower individuals to advocate for their rights. They often work closely with community leaders and local organizations.
  • Emergency Response: In crisis situations, protection officers may provide immediate support to affected individuals, including conducting rapid assessments and coordinating emergency services.
     

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications:
BSc Degree preferably in Psychology, Social work or related field.

 

Experience Required:
At least 4 years of experience in the project management by national/international NGOs/UN bodies/ Government.
 

Knowledge & Skills:
• Highly analytical and organized.
• Understanding the cultural context of the populations they serve
• Great negotiators and influencers.
• Adept at conflict resolution.
• Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
• Outstanding planning, resource, and stakeholder managers.
• Able to see the bigger picture and sell their vision.


Language:
English “advanced level”.
