 Background:

ROLE PURPOSE: 

The Officer Safeguarding, Safe & Ethical Programming plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children, staff, and communities within the field office. Under the supervision of the Manager for Safeguarding, Safe & Ethical Programming, this position is responsible for supporting the implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures, promoting a culture of safety, and integrating safeguarding principles into all programmatic activities. The role involves providing technical expertise, conducting capacity-building initiatives, and engaging with stakeholders to ensure that safeguarding and counter-fraud measures are effectively embedded in the organization's operations. By fostering an environment of prevention and awareness, this role helps protect vulnerable populations from harm and supports the organization's commitment to ethical and responsible programming.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in Safeguarding Initiatives: Support the implementation of safeguarding and counter-fraud policies within the field office, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate Local Policy Implementation: Help coordinate and monitor the application of safeguarding and counter-fraud policies at the field level to create a safe environment for all stakeholders.
  • Collaboration with Field Program Managers: Work closely with field program managers to ensure that all local programs incorporate safeguarding and counter-fraud principles in their design and execution.
  • Support Field Teams: Provide support to field teams in integrating safeguarding and counter-fraud measures into program design, monitoring, and evaluation processes.
  • Facilitate Integration of Practices: Assist in the integration of safeguarding and ethical practices into ongoing field programs to foster a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Capacity Building Support: Help conduct capacity-building sessions based on assessments and action plans to identify and mitigate risks specific to the field context.
  • Track Implementation and Lessons Learned: Monitor the implementation of lessons learned from safeguarding and counter-fraud cases in the field, ensuring that improvements are documented and actioned.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, international development, human rights).
  • Proven experience in working on safeguarding, protection, or related fields.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of safeguarding principles, international standards, and best practices.
  • Strong facilitation and training skills, with the ability to deliver engaging and impactful sessions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build effective partnerships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to assess and analyze complex situations, identify risks and vulnerabilities, and provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications and technology for data management and reporting.
