THE PURPOSE

 

The Technical Worker/Carpenter performs maintenance and repair tasks, applying technical skills and experience to support daily maintenance operations.

 

REPORTS TO (ROLE)

 

  • Premises Maintenance Supervisor


 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure maintenance requests are handled promptly and efficiently, with progress reported.
  • Carry preventive/corrective maintenance for offices and residences related to carpentry.
  • Measure, mark, cut, and assemble wood and related materials according to specifications
  • Construct, install, maintain, and repair wooden structures such as doors, windows, cabinets, shelves, furniture, and partitions
  • Carry out basic welding works (e.g., minor metal fabrication, brackets, frames, repairs) as required
  • Perform basic painting works, including surface preparation, priming, and painting of wooden and metal surfaces
  • Install fixtures and fittings such as hinges, locks, handles, and frames
  • Basic knowledge to Read and interpret drawings, sketches, and work instructions
  • Ensure quality workmanship and compliance with safety standards
  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and painting tools
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work area
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other technical staff as needed
  • Follow occupational health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
  • Report material needs, defects, and safety concerns to the supervisor
  • Report any discrepancies, damage, loss, or need for repair immediately to the supervisor.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strongly motivated by humanitarian work
  • Able to work under pressure in a potentially dangerous environment

 

CERTIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIRED

 

  • Primary school education and some vocational training required.
  • Basic knowledge of English.
  • Attention to detail and meticulous use of proper safety procedures,

 

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position,
  • Previous working experience with International Organizations (preferred),
