 Background:

The MEAL Assistant will play a leading role in supporting MedGlobal’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and

Learning (MEAL) functions in Sudan. The position will ensure that MEAL systems are effectively implemented across

all projects, with strong focus on data management, reporting, accountability, and learning.

Although titled as an Assistant, this role carries high-level responsibility in guiding project teams on MEAL

requirements, ensuring donor compliance (including OCHA, UNICEF, and other donors), managing data systems, and

leading accountability and learning processes. The MEAL Assistant will also support the design and analysis of

surveys, evaluations, and reporting to ensure evidence-based programming and organizational learning



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

1. Monitoring & Evaluation

 Lead day-to-day monitoring and evaluation activities across MedGlobal projects in Sudan.

 Ensure MEAL frameworks, log frames, and performance indicators are consistently applied and tracked.

 Support the design and implementation of baseline, midline, and endline surveys, as well as needs

assessments and evaluations.

 Conduct regular field visits to monitor project implementation, verify data, and identify areas for

improvement.

 Ensure quality and accuracy of data through data cleaning, verification, and triangulation processes.

2. Reporting & Donor Compliance

 Compile and analyze MEAL data to support the preparation of donor reports (OCHA, UNICEF, WHO, and

others).

 Produce high-quality internal and external reports, highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations.

 Work closely with program teams to ensure timely reporting on MEAL indicators and donor requirements.

 Contribute to proposal development by providing input into log frames, indicators, and MEAL budgeting.

3. Accountability & Learning

 Support the implementation of MedGlobal’s accountability framework, including complaints and feedback

mechanisms.

 Ensure that beneficiaries’ voices are heard, documented, and used to inform decision-making.

 Facilitate lessons learned sessions, after-action reviews, and knowledge-sharing workshops.

 Document success stories, best practices, and learning outcomes for donor and internal reporting.

4. Data Management & Information Systems

 Manage digital data collection tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, COMM Care, ODK) and ensure accurate use across

field teams.

 Support the development of dashboards and visualizations using Excel and Power BI to present key findings.

 Conduct statistical analysis using Excel, SPSS, or Stata to generate insights for program improvement.

 Ensure data confidentiality, security, and compliance with organizational and donor standards.

5. Capacity Strengthening

 Provide training, mentoring, and technical support to project staff and partners on MEAL tools,

methodologies, and accountability standards.

 Support field teams in effective use of MEAL systems and data collection tools.

 Contribute to building a culture of evidence-based decision-making within MedGlobal Sudan.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Should have the following skills, education, and experience:

 Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Computer Science, Statistics, Public Health, Humanitarian Studies, or

related field.

 Experience in managing multi-sectoral projects (health, nutrition, and WASH).

 At least 2 years of experience in MEAL, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.

 Proven experience with donor-funded projects (OCHA, UNICEF, WHO, ECHO, USAID, etc.).

 Strong technical skills in survey design, digital data collection, and analysis.

 Proficiency in Excel, Kobo, Power BI, and SPSS/Stata (or similar tools).

 Excellent reporting skills, both narrative and data-driven.

 Strong written and spoken English and Arabic.
