 Background:

 SUDO is an independent, secular, nongovernmental, non-partisan and non-profit making organization established in April 2001 and dedicated to the promotion and the protection of human rights, peace building, support human basic services and development. In particular, the sector includes: FSL, Health, Nutrition, Protection, WASH, and cash programs.  SUDO is currently operating through 13 well-established field offices. 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the MEAL officer will lead on MEAL activities guided by SUDO MEAL manual and donor requirements. Specifically, she/he will:

  • Support program teams on effective tracking of program performance, quality data collection and analysis to facilitate informed program and project design.
  • Participate in projects design and proposals development in the areas of theory of change, logframe design, MEAL plan and budget.
  • Ensure gender sensitive, inclusive and participatory processes throughout MEAL elements.
  • Lead in the planning of projects evaluations (including development of ToRs, participation in consultants’ selection, revision of evaluation reports…), as well as leading on research studies.
  • Ensure that analysis of evaluation findings and recommendations feedback into improved program quality, evidenced in subsequent program/project designs.
  • Work closely with the program team to set up accountability mechanisms for beneficiaries and stakeholders, revise the responses and follow up on actions.
  • Document the lessons learned and provide recommendations for program development. 
  • Build capacity of program team on MEAL. 
  • Provide monthly tracking of the ITT and MEAL plan, or as requested based on the project needs. 
  • Contribute to proposals and new project budgets by ensuring sufficient MEAL costs are included.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Master degree in a relevant field.
  • More than five years of experience working in MEAL in humanitarian and development contexts with I/NGOs. 
  • Commitment and ability to foster and support capacity building of own staff and of local initiatives. 
  • Fluent written and spoken English and the ability to write clear reports for a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, communicate and negotiate with a wide range of people and organisations with tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to cultural differences. 
  • Ability to work to agreed deadlines.
  • Ability to think analytically and plan strategically.
  • Ability to live and work in often arduous conditions and undertake necessary travel in the country.
  • Understanding of OCHA ONEGMS is an advantage
