 Background:

 SUDO is an independent, secular, nongovernmental, non-partisan and non-profit making organization established in April 2001 and dedicated to the promotion and the protection of human rights, peace building, support human basic services and development. In particular, the sector includes: FSL, Health, Nutrition, Protection, WASH, and cash programs.  SUDO is currently operating through 13 well-established field offices. 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Implement financial systems and procedures according to the Financial Handbook and other SUDO policies at the office level
  • Prepare bank accounts and cash reconciliations
  • Verify that vouchers and supporting documents meet SUDO standards before payment
  • Ensure timely payment of staff salaries, contractors, suppliers, and other expenditures
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and projects monitoring budget and share with the Head of Office, Finance manager, Project manager. 
  • Ensure all transactions are posted into the MIS. 
  • Ensure the filing of all financial documents according to SUDO standards
  • Support project staff in financial matters
  • Review coding of transactions and supporting documents to ensure their correctness as per the approved budget codes.
  • Ensure, in coordination with the relevant project staff, that project expenses are incurred consistently with grant agreements and budgets.
  • Monitor expenditures, planned costs, committed costs and identify cases of budget overspent and underspent to provide relevant information and advice to the budget holders for informed management decisions.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of all files and transactions for grant requests, incomes, expenditures, accounting, etc.
  • Support Program Coordinators/Head of Offices in proposal writing, budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Ensure that the Field Office consistently meet all donors and SUDO rules and regulations about finance and procurement.
  • Ensure that adequate financial management routines and systems are in place.
  • Directly lead, manage and motivate the Finance Officers at Field Offices to have clear work plan and objectives and receive regular supervision and reviews.
  • Verify the accuracy, validity, and legitimacy of all payments for completeness of financial documents (purchase requests, work orders, pro forma invoices), proper coding and approval by responsible managers before payments are made. Ensure SUDO creditors are paid promptly.
  • Ensure weekly and monthly cash counts are prepared. 
  • Work with Head of Office/Project manager/Program Coordinator to compile cash requests into a realistic cash forecast for review and approval by Program Director and Executive Director. 
  • Prepare and send monthly Cash and Bank reconciliations to the Finance Manager, after review by the Head of Office.
  • Supervise and coordinate the admin requirements of the field office (office maintenance, procurement process, daily supervision)
  • Any relevant additional tasks to be determined/initiated by the supervisor.  

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • B.Sc. in accounting, administration or related field.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in Finance, preferably with INGOs.
  • Good English language skills, both written and spoken;
  • Excellent computer skills and competence with Microsoft Office;
  • Good conceptual, presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work to agreed deadlines.
  • Ability to think analytically and plan strategically.
  • Ability to live and work in often arduous conditions and undertake necessary travel in the country.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Empathy with SUDO's mission and values.
