Background: Position OverviewThe IT Specialist will play a key role in supporting SAPA’s digital infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, security, and effectiveness of all information technology systems used across the organization. This position is responsible for managing technical platforms, improving digital communication tools, maintaining cybersecurity standards, and providing technical support to SAPA teams and volunteers. The IT Specialist contributes directly to SAPA’s mission by enabling smooth, safe, and efficient digital operations. |

Duties and responsibilities: Key Responsibilities1. Systems Management & Technical SupportProvide day-to-day technical support to SAPA teams, committees, and volunteers. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access across SAPA’s digital platforms (e.g., email, cloud storage, project management tools). Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure prompt resolution. 2. IT Infrastructure & Tools AdministrationMaintain and optimize SAPA’s digital infrastructure, including cloud systems, shared drives, websites, and data repositories. Oversee configuration, updates, and maintenance of SAPA’s software applications and collaboration tools. Ensure all digital platforms operate efficiently and remain user-friendly. 3. Cybersecurity & Data ProtectionImplement and monitor cybersecurity controls to safeguard SAPA’s data and communication channels. Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards across all units and chapters. Conduct regular backups, security scans, and risk assessments. 4. Digital Innovation & AutomationRecommend and introduce new tools, technologies, and solutions that improve workflow and operational efficiency. Support automation of routine processes to enhance productivity across the organization. Assist in the development and enhancement of SAPA’s website and digital presence. 5. Training & Capacity BuildingProvide training sessions and user guides to SAPA personnel and volunteers on IT systems and digital tools. Support digital literacy initiatives and help teams adopt new technologies effectively. |

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered. 3–5 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or digital infrastructure management. Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, cybersecurity practices, and IT troubleshooting. Experience working in nonprofit or volunteer-driven environments is an asset. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and support distributed teams across multiple time zones.
