ROLE PURPOSE:  

 

The Information Management Officer is responsible for supporting the collection, organization, analysis, and reporting of data for all projects in RI Sudan; where a technological solution is established the IMO is responsible for maintaining the database and ensuring capacities are developed in its usage.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Design and Planning:

  • Support the Data Management and Analytics Coordinator in establishing data management related systems and processes; including data verification, compilation, documentation; and contribute to ideas and discussions in relation to data management.
  • Identify capacity or staff gaps in data entry/management across the states and flag these to the PS MEAL team. Undertake trainings and capacity building initiatives where necessary.

Data Management

  • Enable and organize staff to collect and store routine monitoring data for project(s) assigned.
  • Maintain the database as and when it is made available – ensuring access and training for all staff and timely and accurate entry of information; be prepared to enter data from source materials as and when required where staff are not available.
  • Participate in project(s) data review and oversee routine data quality assurance processes in health facilities and communities where projects are implemented; ensure means of verification are established on a regular basis to establish data accuracy and quality. 
  • Work closely with HIS and other Data Officers to ensure that technical data management is undertaken effectively for the project indicators; indicator definitions, calculation formulas and latest tools are available and understood.
  • Work with the PS Accountability Officer and the Data Management and Analytics Coordinator to ensure the Global FCRM database is updated on a monthly basis.
  • Undertake the compilation of sector specific databases to be used for development of the CO dashboards utilizing the data collected from routine HF data and CMAM records. 
  • Support the development of dashboards or preparatory source data received through routine monitoring and accountability related data, as well as evaluations and assessments where required.
  • Maintain all technological aspects of the department and liaise with information technology to procure the most relevant and applicable software and tools for the organization.

 

Learning

  • Support the Project team and/or Data Management and Analytics Coordinator in developing reports and analysis pieces as and when required, and when contributing to project progress and other reports.
  • Build online/offline tools to facilitate and capture lessons learned in coordination with the PS MEAL Team.

 

Other Tasks

  • Attending relevant internal and external meetings and representing the MEAL unit within the state as required by the MEAL Manager.
  • Any other tasks given by the line manager.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Data/Information Management, Analytics or other related field
  • At-least 4 years of experience in MEAL for humanitarian or development settings; experience in data management, indicators, logical frameworks, and managing organizational level databases is a must.
  • Experience working with multi-sectoral projects data, specifically focused on health and nutrition. 
  • Experience and ability to train other staff in utilizing databases and/or other data management processes, including partner staff as and when required.
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating during difficult working conditions
  • Ability and willingness to frequently travel to intervention locations and examine data collected.
  • Demonstrable experience in at least one analytics platform (Power BI preferred), and data collection tools (KOBO preferred). Experience in statistical software advantageous.
  • Honest, encourages openness and transparency; demonstrates highest levels of integrity
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
