 Background:

The Pharmacy Coordinator contributes to the mission of Medical Teams International by leading, coordinating, and monitoring all pharmacy-related activities across the Sudan Country Program. The position ensures the quality and efficiency of pharmaceutical supply chains, proper stock management, and adherence to MTI’s Global Medicine Management Manual and national standards. The role provides technical oversight to pharmacy staff and works closely with Logistics, Health Advisors, Nutrition Advisors and Project Managers to support the delivery of safe, effective, and timely medical services



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with the organization’s policies, the Global Medicine Management Manual, and national regulations concerning medicine use and safety.
  • Oversee pharmaceutical supply chain management, including procurement, storage, inventory control, and distribution to project sites
  • Lead and coordinate medical procurement planning and ensure transparent and efficient processes across all programs.
  • Conduct regular supervisory visits to verify stock management, documentation, and adherence to Good Pharmacy Practices. 
  • Review and validate medicine orders based on verified consumption data, ensuring proper forecasting and timely replenishment.
  • Oversee redistribution of pharmaceuticals between sites to prevent expires and mitigate stockouts.
  • Support the development and implementation of MTI’s pharmacy SOPs in alignment with national and global standards. 
  • Mentor and train pharmacy officers, dispensers, and other staff on rational drug use, storage, and documentation.
  • Prepare regular reports and documentation on pharmaceutical stock status, consumption, and needs projections.
  • Analyze monthly stock and consumption reports, highlighting short-dated or critical items to guide decisions.
  • Ensure complete and accurate pharmacy records, including GRNs, waybills, bin cards, and consumption registers etc.
  • Coordinate the disposal of expired medicines in compliance with MoH and MTI guidelines.
  • Provide technical input for emergency and outbreak medicine requirements.
  • Represent MTI in coordination forums with MoH, NMPB, and other partners on pharmaceutical management issues.
  • Ensure that all goods are stored and packed safely and securely.
  • Ensure that particular attention is given to cold chain storage procedures, to ensure that pharmaceuticals donated and/or purchased are stored in an adequate locked and temperature-controlled environment.
  • Review pharmacy reports from the Field locations to ensure that they are accurate and ensure timely submission to the Program Manager, Logistics Manager, Health Advisor and the donors.
  • Collaborate with Logistics Specialist and Health Advisor on development and roll out of training for Pharmacists, project staff and dispensers at the facility level on drug families, usage and recommendations for storage in line with pharmacy and guideline SOP.
  • Review and update medical product items list and codes for Unit4 with Health Advisor whenever requested.
  • Promote compliance with MTI safeguarding and PSEA policies and actively foster a safe, respectful work environment.
  • Perform any other duties assigned in support of MTI’s mission.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration and practicing license from the Pharmacy Council of Sudan

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Management, Public Health, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical supply chain or pharmacy management, preferably within humanitarian or INGO settings
  • Experience working with the Ministry of Health and National Medicines and Poisons Board.
  •  Demonstrated experience in forecasting, stock management, and supervision of pharmacy teams.
  • Familiarity with international medical supply chain systems and donor compliance requirements
