 Duties and responsibilities:

Job Summary: 

The individual in this position will be responsible for inspecting vehicle readiness and ensuring that all necessary maintenance is conducted in a timely manner. S/he must comply with the organization’s policies and procedures, as well as relevant government regulations. Additionally, the individual may be required to perform other duties as needed.

 

Roles and Key Responsibilities: 

  • Clean and inspect the vehicle daily to ensure it is in good working condition before every trip.
  • Safely drive CRS staff and visitors each day, always ensuring that all passengers wear seat belts.
  • Strictly adhere to traffic regulations and report any accidents to your immediate supervisor.
  • Ensure the vehicle has sufficient fuel (at least one-quarter tank) before starting your trip and obtain a vehicle request prior to departure.
  • Regularly contact the office via cell phone to report your location, destination, and any other relevant information.
  • Assist with bill payments and be sure to obtain receipts, invoices, tickets, and any other necessary documentation as required.
  • Follow the organization policies and industry regulations, including safety protocols and documentation requirements.
  • Help with vehicle registration and insurance renewal.
  • Aid in loading and unloading goods from vehicles.
  • Ensure that passengers complete the required information in the logbook regarding their trip, including fund and project codes, and sign it.
  • If the replacement driver does not show up for duty, continue working until the Head Driver makes further arrangements.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

 


 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Secondary school certificate is required.
  • Proficient in spoken English and Arabic. 
  • Hold a valid Sudanese driving license. 
  • Have at least four years of driving experience, preferably with NGOs. 
  • Possess a good knowledge of basic mechanics and familiarity with spare parts.

 

Required Languages – English, Arabic advantage.

 

Travel – Regular travels within and outside of Al Gazira, Wad Madani as per requests. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • Demonstrates good oral and communication skills.
  • Good Interpersonal relations skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Self-motivated person able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills (resolving problems or recommending solutions to supervisor).
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
