Background: Background – Relief International (RI) Relief International (RI) is a global humanitarian and development organization working in fragile and crisis-affected settings to deliver lifesaving and life-sustaining services. Relief International implements integrated programs in Health, Nutrition, WASH, Protection, and FSL, bridging emergency response with long-term recovery and health system strengthening. RI works closely with national and state Ministries of Health (SMoH), communities, and international partners to enhance access to quality nutrition and health services. The organization prioritizes community engagement, accountability to affected populations, and safeguarding in all its programs. RI currently operates in Khartoum, Al Jazirah, Blue Nile, Gedaref, Red Sea, and North Darfur States, with plans for further expansion.

Duties and responsibilities:
Purpose of the Position The Nutrition Officer supports the implementation and monitoring of RI’s Integrated Nutrition Program in Khartoum State, focusing on therapeutic and community nutrition interventions linked with Health, WASH, FSL, and Protection sectors. The position ensures high-quality service delivery through technical guidance, capacity building, supervision, and coordination with SMoH and partners. 4. Key Objectives - Ensure effective implementation of CMAM services (OTP, TSFP, and SC linkages).
- Strengthen community-based nutrition screening, referrals, and follow-up systems.
- Integrate nutrition with health, WASH, FSL, and protection interventions.
- Support IYCF-E and maternal nutrition promotion activities.
- Strengthen data quality, reporting, and analysis for informed decision-making.
5. Key Responsibilities / Duties A. Therapeutic Nutrition Program Implementation - Support implementation of CMAM components (OTP, TSFP, SC linkage) in targeted health facilities.
- Conduct on-site supervision, on-the-job training, and quality checks on admissions, treatment protocols, and discharges.
- Ensure appropriate use of RUTF, RUSF, and essential medicines following national guidelines.
- Review and verify reporting tools (OTP cards, registers, and reporting forms).
- Coordinate with MoH nutrition focal points for supply requests and distribution tracking.
B. Community Nutrition & Outreach - Oversee community-level MUAC screening, referrals, and follow-ups through CHWs and volunteers.
- Strengthen the referral pathway between community and facility-level nutrition services.
- Support community mobilization, defaulter tracing, and home visits for follow-up.
- Facilitate growth monitoring and behavior change communication sessions.
C. Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) & Maternal Nutrition - Support establishment and functionality of Mother-to-Mother Support Groups (MtMSGs).
- Conduct IYCF-E counseling and promotion for caregivers and PLWs.
- Ensure integration of IYCF messaging into WASH, Health, and FSL interventions.
- Support micronutrient supplementation and dietary counseling for mothers and children.
D. Capacity Building & Technical Support - Build capacity of health facility staff and CHWs on CMAM, IYCF, and integrated nutrition programming.
- Conduct supportive supervision and mentorship sessions.
- Provide technical guidance during joint MoH-RI assessments and monitoring visits.
E. Integration with Health, WASH, FSL, and Protection - Work closely with sector leads to ensure nutrition-sensitive programming.
- Promote safe water and hygiene practices to prevent malnutrition-related diseases.
- Support FSL teams in linking households with nutrition-sensitive livelihood interventions.
- Ensure inclusion and protection principles in all nutrition activities, particularly for women and children.
F. Data Management, Reporting & Monitoring - Compile weekly and monthly nutrition reports (admissions, performance indicators, stock balances).
- Monitor program performance against Sphere and national standards.
- Use digital/mobile data collection tools (KOBO/CommCare) for reporting.
- Support data analysis for decision-making and program improvement.
G. Coordination & Representation - Coordinate with MoH, WFP, UNICEF, and nutrition partners for joint activities.
- Represent RI in local and state-level nutrition coordination meetings.
- Collaborate with other sector officers to plan integrated outreach and joint assessments.
H. Supply Chain & Logistics - Ensure timely request, receipt, and distribution of nutrition commodities (RUTF, RUSF, anthropometric tools).
- Track commodity consumption and avoid stockouts.
- Liaise with logistics for proper storage and transport to facilities.
I. Protection, Safeguarding & Ethical Practice - Ensure adherence to RI safeguarding and protection policies in all nutrition interventions.
- Promote safe access and inclusive participation of women, men, boys, and girls.
- Report and refer GBV and child protection cases per RI’s referral pathways.
6. Activities to Supervise - CMAM (OTP/TSFP) service delivery at health facilities.
- Community screening, referrals, and follow-ups.
- IYCF-E counseling and support group sessions.
- Nutrition-sensitive hygiene promotion with WASH teams.
- Data collection and submission by facility and community nutrition staff.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
7. Minimum Qualifications & Experience - Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Epidemiology or related field.
- Minimum 1 years of experience in nutrition programming (humanitarian or post-conflict context).
- Proven experience in CMAM and IYCF implementation.
- Knowledge of nutrition integration with Health, WASH, FSL, and Protection sectors.
- Experience working with MoH and UN agencies (UNICEF, WFP).
- Fluency in Arabic required; working knowledge of English preferred.
- Basic computer and data management skills (Excel, KOBO, DHIS2).
8. Desirable Competencies - Strong technical knowledge of CMAM, IYCF-E, and nutrition assessments.
- Leadership and mentoring skills.
- Familiarity with BHA, UNICEF, and WHO nutrition standards.
- Analytical and report-writing skills.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and community engagement.
9. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - 100% of OTP sites submitting complete and timely reports.
- MUAC screening coverage ≥90% of target population.
- Cure rate ≥75%, death rate ≤3%, defaulter rate ≤15%.
- Functional referral system between community and facilities.
- Regular joint supervision visits with MoH conducted monthly.
- IYCF-E counseling coverage for PLWs ≥80%.
10. Working Conditions & Security - Field-based position with frequent travel within Khartoum and surrounding areas.
- Work involves visits to health facilities and communities.
- Compliance with RI security protocols and safety measures is mandatory.
11. Child Protection, GBV & Safeguarding - Strict adherence to RI Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies.
- Immediate reporting of any safeguarding or protection concerns.
- All staff and CHWs must be trained on safe programming principles.
12. Deliverables - Weekly and monthly CMAM and IYCF reports.
- Supervision and training reports.
- Nutrition performance dashboards (admissions, cure, defaulter, death rates).
- Supply tracking and distribution logs.
- Documentation of community mobilization and coordination meetings.
