 Background:

SUDO is an independent, secular, nongovernmental, non-partisan and non-profit making organization established in April 2001 and dedicated to the promotion and the protection of human rights, peace building, support human basic services and development. In particular, the sector includes: FSL, Health, Nutrition, Protection, WASH, and cash programs. SUDO is currently operating through 13 well-established field offices.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Implement financial systems and procedures according to Financial Handbook and other SUDO policies at office level
  • Prepare bank accounts and cashbook reconciliations
  • Verify that vouchers and supporting documents meet SUDO standards before payment
  • Ensure timely payment of staff salaries, contractors, suppliers and other expenditures
  • Ensure sufficient cash in the bank and in the cash boxes
  • Prepare monthly financial reports after receiving monthly financial reports from field offices
  • Ensure filing of all financial documents according to SUDO standards
  • Train and develop financial staff
  • Support project staff in financial matters
  • Review coding of transactions and supporting documents to ensure their correctness as per the approved budget codes.
  • Ensure, in coordination with the relevant project staff, that project expenses are incurred consistent with grant agreements and budgets.
  • Monitor expenditures, planned costs, committed costs and identify cases of budget over-spent and under-spent to provide relevant information and advice to the budget holders for informed management decisions.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of all files and transactions for grant requests, incomes, expenditures, accounting….... etc.
  • Prepare periodic budget monitoring reports.
  • Ensure that the Country Offices/ Field Offices consistently meet all donors and SUDO rules and regulations pertaining to finance and procurement.
  • Ensure that adequate financial management routines and systems are in place.
  • Verify the accuracy, validity, legitimacy of all payments for completeness of financial documents, (purchase requests, work orders, pro forma invoices), proper coding and approval by responsible managers before payments are made. Ensure SUDO creditors are paid promptly.
  • Prepare and send monthly Cash and Bank reconciliations to Finance Manager.
  • Any relevant additional tasks to be determined/initiated by the Financial Manager. 

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a recognized university.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably within international or national NGOs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and respectfully with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant accounting or financial management software.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to organizational values.

Language:

  • Advanced proficiency in English & Arabic (written and spoken).

Age:

Candidates should not exceed 45 years of age.
