 Background:

The Food Security Program Coordinator provides strategic leadership for the organization’s Food Security (FS) initiatives, ensuring long-term sustainability, scalability, and alignment with SCO mission and goals. The role focuses on program development, donor engagement, policy-making, and impact measurement, while delegating operational tasks to supervisors and field staff. 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Plan and coordinate food security activities in strategic level, develop strategies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and expand program reach.
  2. Design policies, frameworks, and standards for food distribution and nutrition programs.
  3. Secure funding through donor engagement, proposal writing, and partnerships with government, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders.
  4. Manage budgets, donations, and resources allocated to the food security program.
  5. Conduct needs assessments and use data to design evidence-based feeding interventions.
  6. Oversee monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems to measure program impact and outcomes and prepare regular reports for management and stakeholders.
  7. Advocate for food security and nutrition issues at community, regional, and national levels.
  8. Provide strategic guidance to operational staff & train staff & volunteers who involved in feeding program.
  9. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations.
  10. Represent the organization in Food Security (FS) coordination forums, clusters, and working groups at national and sub-national levels.
  11. Identify potential operational, security, and procurement risks that could impact program implementation & conduct regular risk assessments and develop practical mitigation measures in coordination with relevant departments

Perform any other tasks that may be reasonably required within the scope of the organization’s activities and in line with the position’s objectives.

 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Qualification: 

Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, veterinary medicine, Nutrition, Social Development or related field.

 

  • Work Experience & Competencies:
  1. At least 3 years of experience in development program implemented by national/international NGOs/UN bodies/ Government.
  2. Proven track record in program design, scaling community initiatives, and impact measurement
  3.  Excellent strategic planning, policy development, and program design skills with strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, proposals, and presentations.
  4. Strong understanding of food security frameworks, nutrition standards, and humanitarian principles.
  5. Knowledge of budgeting, financial planning, and resource mobilization.
  6. Familiarity with donor reporting requirements (UN agencies, USAID, EU, foundations, etc.).
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data management tools, and relevant project management systems.
  8. Excellent Arabic and English Language.
  9. Able and willing to work as part of the team and as team leader and assist or carry out other duties during periods of high workload and emergencies.
  10. Ability to work effectively in multicultural, fast-paced, and complex humanitarian environments
  11. Ability to maintain confidentiality; demonstrate sound judgement and discretion
